Nothing beats "Now run and tell ya mama 'bout that!"...but yes, that part is pretty fantastic. "Fun is good." - Dr. Seuss

"Alphabet St." is one of my Top 5 Favorite Prince Songs. When it came out, I was blown away. The syncopation, the guitar solo, the "yeah yeah yeah yeaaaaah" chorus... and then that second act, with Cat's rap... WOW. And to think he scrapped "The Black Album" and then did the entire "Lovesexy" album in seven or eight months. An amazing achievement. . I was lucky enough to tape the video one afternoon, and I watched it over and over. (Until my stupid little brother taped over it.) One day I paused it to take a phone call... and when I came back, I noticed what looked like words running up and down the middle of the screen. Turns out I discovered the "Don't buy the Black Album. I'm sorry" hidden message! Accidentally! And after that, I scoured the video for any other treasures.

Shows how old skool and die hard you are luv4u! I still have Lovesexy on cassette too. I played it out so much I think it's warped in some parts. . "A strong spirit transcends rules." - Prince

I remember having Lovesexy on Cassette... A friend borrowed it from me and handed it back sneakly by shoving it in a mailbox without telling me... I thought great I finally got it back... however after hearing glum slum thank u mum u really fucked me up the bum and the opposite side of the cassette was when 2 hens fuck a Dove... either way the cassestte was chewed up and I was so pissed off from this... this was the end of sharing tapes with dirty and ungrateful cunts.... Still one of Prince's best records or tapes... my regret I never got the time to replace it that year.

I've still got a few hundred cassettes (at least!) people been laughing 4 yrs. I don't care "We just let people talk & say whatever they want 2 say. 9 times out of 10, trust me, what's out there now, I wouldn't give nary one of these folks the time of day. That's why I don't say anything back, because there's so much that's wrong" - P, Dec '15

I think there are so many ridiculously catchy parts of Alphabet Street that may float in my head at various times during the years, including the catchiness and simplicity of the guitar chords, one of his coolest sounding vocals in the verses, the cat rap (perhaps the funnest rap in Prince's catalog), the hesitation after he says I'm going to drive my car to....Tennessee (of all places and my home state), and the vamp alphabet! Not his best song but one of his most catchy and memorable ones.

. I'm actually stunned that more people don't put this as the top of their list of favorite Prince songs. To my ears, it's almost perfect. It's one of those rare songs that I *never* skip when it rotates through my playlists, no matter how many times I've heard it. In fact, I'll play it again, just to soak it in once more.

I'm still rockin' cassettes, too. Pretty cool to see I'm not the only one. Alphabet St. is one of the few singles I have on vinyl. "This is not music this is a trip" on the b-side is beezness! "Love & honesty, peace & harmony"
