I know that Prince is gone now, but his death has kind of ignited an interest in the city of Minneapolis for re-location for me. The Mary Tyler Moore Show reruns always made it seem like a blissful tundra to me as a kid. Also, currently attempting to transition into Tech from Finance and Minneapolis has been cited as a growing tech hub in several articles as well. I think that the climate change may be the most intimidating factor to me currently in considering this.

Not directly, but I subscribed to the Minneapolis Star Tribune after Prince's death since they had great Prince pics and stories and tributes. After a while I started reading the rest of the paper including the real estate section, the community info etc. and the more I read the more I thought about Minneapolis as a re-location destination. The Seattle area (where I'm from) is getting crazy expensive and the traffic is truly terrible. I used to live in Anchorage so the weather doesn't scare me. I'm not gonna lie - the thought of moving has occurred to me more than once. If it was good enough for Prince.... lol. My husband can work from anywhere and depending on what happens with my job in the next year we may just move. Anyway, it's on my radar because of Prince, even if he's gone.

As a long time fan, I always wanted to visit Minnesota or possibly move there, all because of Prince. lol However, that dream died when he did. Now, I just don't see any reason to, because he's no longer there, it just makes me sad.

ya, i've been in seattle all my life, it's changed so much over the years but now it's booming so fast it can't keep up with itself. Too many people, horrible traffic, bad homeless problems just getting to old to be dealing with other peoples issues constantly whether it's the bum asking for change or the road rage hotheaded young kid. Tacoma ain't bad, i've worked out there recently, it's really not that bad.

It does make me sad now because it feels like Minneapolis has lost a bit of its magic (to me at least) now that he's no longer in the physical here. It's been interesting in trying find other excitable things about the city, but it still could never be the same.

I am however very appreciative of the time I did get to spend in his presence, seeing him smile and hearing his humor and wisdom has made it worth sticking around for a bit. If he never left there is a pretty good reason to stay. After all, rock n roll is alive! (and it lives in Minneapolis)

Personally to pick up and move to a city because of an entertainer is slightly scary to me.. if I was an entertainer I'd probably think the same if people moved to my city to be near me.. lol. That would freak me out and strike me as slightly crazy... he was right to say what he said about fans being fanatics. That's a bit much for me. But I guess to each his own

I knew someone back in the 80s who was a 'fanatic' He would try to steal my 'singles' and photos by/of Prince. After he graduated he moved to Minni. Still there from what I heard.

i guess so but he was a charismatic public figure. People are easily spooked so i guess that's normal but as I've told my family, because in my case, I wanted to be a musician, people go places all the time and it isn't considered any crazier than relocating for a job. Madonna left her town to go to NY, Prince also went to NY and LA, you know the world is a lot bigger than where you happen to live and where you happen to live unless you're lucky enough to be in a hotspot, usually isn't going to do you any good. However, in my case, it was stupid and I was too young an inexperienced in life. Looking back, I just think my parents were against it because that was them, just being control freaks.

There is a difference between being inspired to move somewhere by an artist and moving somewhere to be near the artist. Prince's work being rooted in Minneapolis has always made me see the charm in that place because of the way Prince used to talk so fondly about it and also because of the music scene that is associated with Minneapolis. Although I ended up never going there I can understand why some people would want to live there without that making them 'fanatics'. A bit like Broadway has inspired a lot of entertainers to move to New York.

hell, if i had the resources, i'd move close to pp right now. why the hell not? it's a great place to make music, not overrun by people, rural and quiet. Prince new what he was doing and that was isolating himself from the worlds distractions something that holds ALL of us musicians back in one way or the other.

This was the exact perspective that I was going for.

I didn't move here to stalk him, I did my research on the city plus I've up and moved to many cities prior to Minneapolis. Being able to be near PP when a random party happened was on my personal bucket list. ✔️
