..Hello, who is it?
Yes, this is a prettyman, Princey!
When the tribute concert details were first released on Friday I tried to be as positive as possible (and I still think they got some good acts worth seeing) but after a day or so I just have a weird feeling about the whole thing. Nothing on Tyka's Facebook page about it. Same with Liv Warfield and Shelby J. I checked the twitter accounts of the 3rdEye Girls (along with Trevor Guy and Joshua Welton) and no mention of it either. Nothing from Chaka Khan or Anita Baker. And then of course Morris Day posting stuff to social media and then removing it. And of course no involvement from Sheila E with her scheduling an event with Morris Day 2 days later and tweeting about it the same day this tribute concert was announced. With Tyka'a announcement in August and then tickets not going on sale until mid to late September (plus the venue change) I get the feeling something happened behind the scenes and what we're getting is someone scrambling to fill an obligation because the Oct 13 date was already announced. The whole thing is just weird. The first announcement back in August came from the family; the one on Thursday has no quotes from the family. Is the family going to be at this event? Mayte, Mani and Apollonia were at the First Ave gigs. Are they going to be there? Why wouldn't people like Shelby and Liv be promoting it on social media? Liv is promoting other upcoming gigs she has. The more I'm thinking about this the weirder vibe I'm getting. I'd almost rather have a statement from the family saying the tribute concert is being postponed than what seems like a last minute scramble to pull something together to meet a previously announced date. I'm sure Londell or whoever is now in charge of this are trying to do the right thing but Prince doesn't deserve anything rushed or half-assed. I hope it all works out and I still will try and get tickets on Monday (assuming most of them are $19.99).
I really do think we all need to remember this post here because we've already been told:

I really don't understand those trying to cast aspersions on this Tribute. At this point, does it even matter if it is not associated with certain family members????? Quite honestly, the family hasn't seemed very concerned about including the LEGIONS of grieving fams in any of the multiple memorials that have been held. The way I see it, Tyka should be thankful that SOMEONE was able to pull this Tribute out of the rabbit's hat. After all, she is the one who announced the Oct. 13 event, with no secured venue and no performers lined up. So, if this whole thing had fallen through, her credibility would have taken a serious hit!!! Let's keep it real. And, none of us has any way of knowing what is going on behind the scenes, but if it has to do with family drama, you can pretty much be certain that it's about MONEY AND CONTROL, neither of which concern me with regards to this tribute FOR PRINCE. They can sort it all out later, but right now, most of his adoring fams just want to come together, WITH A POSITIVE VIBE, and celebrate Prince. Is that too much to ask for?

I don't much care for the cryptic messages either. If somebody knows something but can't say and say nothing at all. I saw a post on FB that claimed Tyka didn't want a MJ style big tribute and said Prince wouldn't have wanted it either but the promoters and some family members were pushing for it. Like I said before it's a damn shame that Prince's family dynamics are such that his siblings can't all come together as a unified voice.
Everyone can do whatever it is that they want to do, but I'm gonna say that I'm pretty certain that family and several of those on the inside have been on the org recently and continue to check in. There's lots of anger and confusion out there...we can either stay spinning in that endless circle until we burn out or look for ways out. I pay close attention to what people post here and have found a sense of balance with some posters I've been seeing. I'm sticking with that. There are reasons no doubt for some of the "cryptic messages"....the estate being in probate is the biggest and who knows what else may be happening behind the scenes. I've tried to point out what I think bears paying attention to, but I guess people don't want to hear that so I will just keep these things to myself. I've made a few connections here too where I've gotten more info that I hadn't heard anywhere else, so I know that people who are in the know are here and in some cases participating in discussions.
Peace to you all

I agree. I am so excited that this is going to happen, I hope I can get tickets Monday.
And, don't forget, Doug E. Fresh was actually a part of the NPG. For awhile, he toured with Prince. I wish folks would just be happy that the Tribute is actually going to happen. This is a wonderful line-up. It might not include everyone some might like to see...and it might include some not so obvious choices, but here's the thing: Everyone who takes the stage on Oct. 13 will be there to celebrate Prince. Why can't that be enough? All the negativity is really draining.
I completely agree with you. Any performer is there to perform out of respect for the man and his music. Who am I to judge who is qualified to "pay tribute" to Prince. He was loved and respected by a wide variety of artists worldwide (remember he actually wrote a song for Kenny Rogers one time ) It's like someone telling me because I never got to attend the concerts at Paisley that I'm not qualified to grieve or pay tribute to him. After consideration, I think it speaks to who he was as an artist what a variety of perfomers are paying tribute to him in some form. Having said that, I can't take someone butchering "Purple Rain" one.more.time. Let's just leave it alone. Yes, it has to be played but lets just stick to his original recording-no covers.
Morris Day & The Time, NPG, Liv Warfield, 3rdEye Girl, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan and Mint Condition have no connection to Prince?
Anita Baker, Doug E. Fresh and MANY others that will be performing at the memorial tribute were loved by Prince including the NPG and his last band that he toured with and that he thought were great. Let's please try to show some respect for Prince and his family. It's disappointing that John Mayer and Christina Aguilera will be performing, but the many artists that Prince loved and respected that were invited to perform are awesome! #love4oneanother [Edited 9/16/16 18:57pm]

Maybe because they didn't have a so-called big headlinner..they had to create a buzz some kind of mystery and make it so secret that you felt like you had to be there...if that was the plan it worked...I so want to be there
Stevie Wonder IS a major headliner.
It's also quite special that he was chosen to headline because one of the very last albums Prince purchased was a Stevie Wonder album...

I agree..Stevie Wonder is legend..he is a must see, and I know Prince looked up to him, and I know Stevie loved him.I just remember them talking about Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars headlining. I always thought screw the headliners, we want a tribute by the people who loved him, worked with him, had a connection with him and are mourning him. I think the lineup they have now is much more appropriate.

The cryptic messages hold no clout as far as I'm concerned. It's under a month away. If 'they' have these supposed events planned, then they may want to ANNOUNCE them as otherwise people will have already purchased their tickets to other enjoyable events and therefore will not be available because they will be otherwise be engaged celebrating Prince among Prince Fams at other events.

I'll be pissed if family members start promoting other things on or around the time of this event. Whether they were in agreement or not it's happening so just suck it up. Pushing other things as the "real" tribute is just going to make all of it look like a joke and it's not what Prince deserves.
This was tweeted out 2 day from pp. I guess you can eat like Prince

LOL. that is delightfully quirky makes me wish I could be there oct. 6 .
I suspect more artists may be announced -- maybe some of the revolution since Brownmark mentioned playing on a big stage with Bilal. And maybe they wait to see how ticket sales start off to decide what kind of promotion is needed. it would be fitting for a purple event for there to be last minute surprises. But i'm glad that if any1 has issues with the current lineup, this will give me a better chance of getting a ticket I feel like everypurpleartist has already been paying tribute and will continue to, and hopefully its more scheduling issues than ego, due to the relatively late final date announcement, which was still in question until a few days ago.

I might be in the minority here but I couldn't care less about Prince and hip-hop. That's one phase of his career I'd rather forget. [Edited 9/17/16 18:04pm]
This sounds like a real lovely idea - beauty, rebirth, spring, life cycle, color, peace, unity.
This would be perfect!
What the experts say on the meaning of tulips;
Tulips are symbolic of fame and perfect love. The symbolic meanings also change with the color of the tulips. Red tulips mean "believe me" and are a declaration of true love. Variegated tulips mean "you have beautiful eyes." Yellow tulips mean "there's sunshine in your smile" and cheerful thoughts. Cream colored tulips mean "I will love you forever." White tulips symbolize heaven, newness and purity. Purple tulips symbolize royalty. Pink tulips mean affection and caring.Orange tulips mean energy, enthusiasm, desire, and passion.
Could this BE any more fitting! Peace, love and healing.
Let me add this not only will your personal tulip bulb seed be planted Prince would want your name displayed on his home turf awaiting that day of reunion

i am burned out on all of this. after over 4 months of real daily grieving, it all feels like very little respect for prince and very little respect for his fans. why does everything have to be some kind of secret that we need to de-code. like others have said, if things are announced that can not happen than just say it. i can not believe that after all of our grief, now they want us to compete for a box of stuff you will only be able to get on the first day of paisley tours. o.k. everyone stop crying and put on your running shoes, lets jump through some hoops so we can get some "special" stuff. honestly it all makes me even sadder. i know in a few years this will all settle down, and it will just be what it is, but right now the people that built paisley park and his estate, us, by loving prince and buying his stuff, and following him for all of these years, are only being looked at as a way to keep the money rolling in
So I asked Shelby on FB if she was going to be at the concert and she replied yes! Woo hoo!
I'm pretty much convinced whomever is in charge of this event now has put a muzzle on people talking about it for whatever reason...otherwise for sure people like Shelby would be promoting it. Hopefully as it gets closer to the event there will be more PR for it.
Is anyone going to the box office to wait in line for the ticket lottery tomorrow?I understand you have two ways of purchasing tickets.....tomorrow will be exciting!!!!!

I KNEW IT!!! Thanks for the confirmation!!! I'm starting to have a very good feeling about this upcoming celebration of P's life. I wish I could be there.
