I would rather they have taken them time and had either:

A) Paisley Tribute - The Revolution, The Time, Sheila E, The Family, Jill Jones, 3rdeyegirl, Andy Allo, Apollonia 6 etc

or

B) Purple Tribute - The major stars of the music industry put on a benefit night - Beyonce, Stevie, Madonna, Timberlake, Coldplay, Lenny etc etc.

I would prefer A, but would take B.

Either way, I didn't expect a random scattering of associates and largely a bunch B listers with nothing on that night.

I don't think we're fooled. But literally on the edge of patience with under a month to go.

But Tyka was one that made the 'Official Prince Tribute Oct 13th at the US Bank Stadium' announcement in end of July about this October event and she hasn't updated to say of any other alternative one way or the other. If things weren't as organized/finalized as they should have been, she/they could have been less 'plan now it's on in October 13th' and more 'working on an event, stay tuned' it would have relieved this imposed deadline to make this happen! Since so many of us took that to be that the event - ASSOCIATED WITH THE FAMILY since she posted it - was happening and therefore purchased flights/accommodation accordingly.

Well I don't consider John Mayer and Christina Aguilera to be b-listers. I know you're just sharing your opinion but I seem to remember people here not wanting it to be full of big name stars but rather former band members and artists who worked with Prince. Yes I would love it if Sheila and the Revolution were going to be there but they got Morris Day, NPG, 3rdEye Girl which encompasses a large chunk of the people he worked with over the years. And for all we know there are egos involved...Sheila did her tribute at BET. Maybe she feels like she won't be in charge of this so she doesn't want to be part of it. Who knows. All I know is no matter who was announced we'd all have opinions on whether it was doing right by Prince or not.

Absolutely . Its going to mean different things to different people. But people outside of America would probably have to google Mayer just to find out who he was.

Considering so many true A listers paid tribute to Prince in the days after his death, I'm just suprised how weak the line up is. It sounds like a rush job, and I think Prince deserves more.

I see people (not you) are getting hung up to on whether its official. It doesn't matter. Paisley Park isn't in a poster or tweet, its in your heart. Each to their own in regards to what they think this is a fitting tribute.

No word from Tyka, but Sharon is quoted: "The family is extremely excited to provide an opportunity for the world to participate in the tribute for our brother Prince," Prince's half-sister, Sharon Nelson, said in a press release. "This concert will be an event not to be missed.”

Man all this conspiracy type stuff does my head in. It's billed as the official tribute on the same night as was announced in the official press release. Obviously the family is involved. Sigh. Anyway here's another official poster.

I'll be back to Ohio by then and can easily drive to Cleveland. If there's any other orgers who want to do something of our own on the 13th, I'm game for that.

I'd love to know what's going on there. I don't remember Sheila tweeting or posting on FB about the Revolution shows at First Ave. I always thought that was odd. Even some of Prince's other band members like Shelby, Liv and Ida gave a shout out to the Rev. Sheila was silent. Either something happened or there's some ego/powerplay thing going on.

I spoke to Sheila last year and there was a bit of bitterness all round. I spoke to Ida last week and she didn't have a bad word to say about anyone, but I suspect she'll be the missing member of 3EG at the tribute. She's finding it hard looking backwards.
