Maybe the next update is coming after Grandparents Day? Seriously though even a small tweet from somone saying that we are still working on things would make me feel better. To hear nothing from anyone really makes me wonder if this is going to even happen at all. I wouldn't shock me at all either that if it does happen it happens at a smaller venue like Target center.

When the revolution had their 3 day concert over labor day weekend in MN, I started to have my doubts if this was going to happen at all. It seems like everyone else has pre-empted the family's fan tribute for October. While I have purchased a ticket to come out in October, I'm thinking The Tribute is not going to happen at this late date. It's sad that people can't come together, put egos aside and just put on a tribute for his fans in his hometown. What a disgrace to his memory if they can't fill a venue because there is not enough draw (talent) and time to promote this event. I'm guessing we fans will have to come to MN and have our own tribute together Oct. 13th. Maybe they can at least put something together at Paisley Park for an After Dark Party for the fans on that date.
As a side note, since Tyka sounds so much like Prince (and is his sister), what are your thought on having her sing Prince's songs at a tribute? She might be the closest sound to the real thing that we have now.

I could write 10 paragraphs on how I feel about his sister performing his music. He refused to have contact with her because she became a prostitute and became addicted 2 drugs. That showed how he felt about her. She got better but they never resumed a relationship . I won't go farther into that discussion. Although I have a lot to say about it My reply is. "NO WAY!!!" And you couldn't pay me enough money to go. I believe in what Prince believed in.

I think whomever planned this event should update those who have already donated, purchased tickets, or is planning to attend that the event is not authorized by #YESWECODE Just so everyone is fully aware Thanks.

All of it starting to piss me off. I'm sorry if I sound so negative but this was announced when July 28th? It's been over a month well over a month (42days) and still nothing. When word first came out I was texting everyone and making plans to go and was really excited. Now I'm getting to the point where I could care less. If you can't get this put together in 42 days what makes you think it's going to happen in really less than a month. Can't wait until last minute to put tickets on sale. Outside of us real diehard Prince fans there is probably no intrest at all anymore and the longer it goes the less and less the casual Prince fan will care.

I have a few limited contacts in the media and elsewhere-they've all indicated its not going to happen. No indication why but just it didn't come together. The stadium was never even booked and its late to try to find artists and a venue. What I can't figure out is why not just tell the fams that- unless the estate is hoping we will all hang on and have bought/buy Paisley Park tickets so their opening month is a big one. I certainly hope that is not the case.

They never resumed a relationship? Source? I both heard it on tv somewhere and read about it in a bio about him. He was currently hesit at ing to consider some type of relationship, but I'm sure minimal. It outraged me for her to go to court immediately to be appointed as his executive and sole heir only like 2 days after he passed. You look at film and pics of her then, all scraggly, 3 colors of hair all discheveled but now go onto her Facebook site - how much did she pay to have that done. She had no money, Prince was not giving her money due to their relationship (not) She is all of a sudden this pure talented singer. Come on. Maybe she can sing, I haven't heard her but she was not part of Prince' life when he passed an all I see from her is greed. 1-2 days and she is in court for all she can gat.

Yes, already have. This all went down just after midnight last night so I did what was time sensitive - completing their request immediately - and updated the double feature thread with a quick heads up to say what was happening. Then I've been at work all day so tackled the mass email right when I got home. All other fundraisers I've hosted, have never encountered this issue: the only reason it can't be #YesWeCode is estate related. An email has gone out to inform all current ticket holders of the update and the options AND the fan gathering thread has been updated with the new charity - Little Kids Rock - transforming the lives of children through music - another cause near to Prince's heart. Dance where y'are, just groove y'all.

You shouldn't believe everything you see on TV and read. [/quote]Yes everyone has their own minds to make their own choices. We were asked if we would like her sing. And I believe in my sources to make my decision and say, No Way! You don't have to agree with me but yes I do believe what I have read and heard in this situation. You make up your mind based on whatever reasons that are important to you. I also say no way to the concept of anyone just going up there and performing Prince's songs. They were his, I don't want to come listen to someone else singing his work. I want them to TriBute him not try to mimic him as a tribute. Sing his songs, I'd rather listen to Prince singing on his cds than watch someone else trying to sing his songs. They just can't do it. BET Awards had a couple examples of performers doing his songs/art and I personally felt like it was a disgrace not a tribute. Stevie Wonder and Sheila E were the only ones worth watching in my opinion. And NOBODY will ever do a better tribute than Sheila E.

Any charity close to Prince's heart is wonderful, and far more meaningful than what anyone else is doing in his honor. I love you baby, just not like I love this guitar.~Prince~

They should not have announced if they did not have the acts signed up but I bet they just assumed his former band mates would agree to do it.

Seriously folks stadium tribute ain't happening.
Maybe move to smaller venue with associated Artists. Or something at first ave or even PP (I noticed there's no tours that night) If the estate drops the ball, us fans need to Make something happen that night. Tons of us booked and are ready to go. I'm not turning back now, this trip is still going to be amazing!! [Edited 9/9/16 5:32am] "Paisley Park is in your Heart"

I'm right there with ya. I have to pull the trigger on a flight from CT as soon as possible, or it's going to be too many $$ for me to even consider. Would a purple invasion and no concert be enough? For me, yeah, I kind of think so. Because I need to do this. If not now, then when?? And with who? Like many people, I'm a lone traveler and being around fans like me is as important as the tribute itself. But I wish they would at least throw us a bone. Live shows if possible and a blowout dance party at first ave. **Something** And soon. We've waited long enough. And the MUSIC continues...forever...

I too am becoming increasingly skeptical that this concert is going to happen. I had noticed before (when I pulled up their events schedule online) that the stadium did not have this event on their schedule. It sure would be nice in that case if the estate or whoever would come clean and tell us that so we can make other plans. "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

I was going to start another tread later today on who had already made plans for Oct 13. Basically who was going and what have you spent so far and what are you other plans if concert don't happen. I'm sure most of us here on the Org were planning on going. I myself haven't spent any money but my schedule at work is done a month ahead of time so I now have a week off in the Middle of Oct. Probably will go see family back home instead of going to Minneapolis.

Totally with you jaynoonan. There's too much already available for us to do. I have something scheduled every day I'm up there and between you and ForeverPaisley, we got a great line up of stuff to explore and fellowship with other Orgers. We can make it work! Let's do it! I already have time off from work, flight scheduled, hotel reserved, and PP tour scheduled. I'm there! If we ever find out for sure this concert is not happening, let's come up with a meeting location and go from there, even if it's right in front of the US Banks Stadium.

Just saw this online:
'Purple Rain: A Tribute to Prince' headed to I-X Center with Sheila E., Morris Day October 15th, cleveland. Tickets are on sale now--I checked.
WTF? Anyone know anything? It feels like "Fuck it, the stadium concert is never going to happen, so we did our own."
Now I have no idea what to do. Cleveland is closer but it ain't Minnie. [Edited 9/9/16 10:45am] And the MUSIC continues...forever...

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Two artists whose careers are inexorably linked to the late Prince Rogers Nelson will help celebrate the late singer-songwriter's life with "Purple Rain: A Tribute to Prince'' at the I-X Center this fall. Morris Day of Morris Day and the Time and Sheila E. star in the show that pays homage to Prince, who was found dead in his Minneapolis complex this past April at the age of 57. They will perform music from the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's career at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15. "I still, and always will, provide the rhythm of his music and memory, whether through my music, drums, words or the beating of my heart,'' said Sheila E., whose real name is Sheila Escovedo, in a release announcing the show. "He grew into a conqueror of rules and a provider of dreams for millions.'' Prince's death on April 21, 2016, was ruled an accidental drug overdose. A lifetime of his frenetic performances in high-heeled boots and shoes had left the star in near-constant pain, and with an addiction to prescription painkillers. Prince apparently was aware of the dangers he faced because the man who found is body, Andrew Kornfield, is the son of Dr. Howard Kornfield, who runs a respected addiction treatment center in California and had been dispatched to Minnesota by his father to see the singer. Tickets, $30 to $70, plus fees, are on sale now at the box office, Discount Drug Marts and online at ixcenter.com/purplerain.
HUH? I don't get it. Now we have dueling tributes? (Supposed) Do you think they said there was going to be a tribute concert - just so they could get everyone to PP at the same time ( but there really was never going to be a tribute)? I know, negative Nelly, but..........
