. PP won't be sold; way back in all of the court filings is a statement that it will not be.
Yes, a future as a multi-use facility. The LOCATION of PP was brilliant. When you look at what surrounds it, it's all industrial. I don't know which was there first, but Chanhassen's public works facility is next door -- meaning that all roads surrounding PP would be the first to be plowed after a winter snowstorm. Being on the main highway west of MPLS means that it was easier to get to the airport (directly).
Loud concerts and such were never a problem. Who's going to complain? The huge General Mills plant right down the street?
There's a lot that can monetize that place. It's paid for. P charge admission for the PP events to cover the obvious costs. People will still pay to go there. It'll cost probably $20 just to get in, more for a full tour -- and with that industrial kitchen, big banquets can be held. A restaurant in "The Egg" would be nice, too. Lots of the grass on the north side could be taken out for more parking, without harming the property.
Yeah...I could manage it LOL . Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

Paisley Park is paid for and since their is no staff or work going on the only expenses are the heat and air conditioning and lawn care.
They are not planning to sell it now but that could change later. It is in an industrial area so the land is valuable. If the museum does not work out they can certainly make a nice chuck of change renting it out for events/banquet hall/ concerts or just selling it.

. That $2.5 million was to run the entire Paisley Park corporation, not the building itself. P had, at one time, 127 people employed there and it was draining the budget. He got rid of most of the them (friends of friends, hangers-on, etc). Right now, having a security staff, keeping the utilities on and the grounds looking nice are all that's needed. The estate can easily afford that. There IS money coming in to cover that; there always was. . Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

If PP is to be converted into a museum, it may be beneficial to make it a non-profit organization. First, this would allow for it to avoid some taxes. Second, as a non-profit, it could fundraise by eliciting donations from people, organizations, corporations, and government agencies in the same way that art museums and zoos to. Also, it could still be a venue for concerts, weddings, and other events. I know that here in Philadelphia, where I live, the zoo, the aquarium (in Camden, NJ), and a number of museums will rent out their facilities for weddings and other events. If PP is enough of a draw for tourists, the city, county, and state might be inclined to provide some funding for it. If the estate does allow for it to become a museum, perhaps a portion of Prince's music sales could be put into a trust fund for the preservation of PP.

I agree with a lot of people on this thread. Making Paisley Park a museum is not enough. It should continue to provide the services to artists that it always provided as well as having a museum aspect. http://www.electronicbeats.net/feed/documenting-the-insane-vibes-of-princes-paisley-park/ Welcome home class. We've come a long way. - RIP Prince

The Associated Press is reporting that fees for handling Prince's estate have totalled $2 million so far, not counting Bremer Trust's fees filed under seal.

. How the tribute concert can bolster Prince's estate and legacy -- NEW Rolling Stone analysis, Aug 2, 2016: . "Former AEG executive (and one-time Prince manager) Randy Phillips and Grammy Awards producer Ken Ehrlich have been contacted about possibly producing the show, which would also be filmed for a network TV special." http://www.rollingstone.c...rt-w432207 . It should be a LIVE network special, not filmed for later broadcast (IMO). . [Edited 8/2/16 16:19pm] Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

This is just my opinion, but watching something that someone else built and nurtured, being sold off piecemeal is not a pretty thing to watch. I know property is bought and sold as investments, but *this* isn't P doing it with his stuff. Its somebody else and they don't know what was purly for financial investment or sentimental. Yes, I know it is necessary to pay the attorney fees, and the inevitable tax bill. I still don't like it. Kinda like having to eat peas, when you hate them.

Read the court document, they may make you feel better. These are supposedly properties not needed and need to be sold because of the cost of upkeep, to help maintain other property, like say PP. Why worry about a house in NY?

newsflash folks.... selling Prince's real estate including PP won't nearly be enough to save them from the taxman... The family would have to sell his publishing rights to make any real money..just like Courtney Love did with Nirvana's music..or what Lisa Marie did which was sold 85% of all trademark rights to Elvis' name, likeness and image, intellectual property, including EPE's collection of photographs, archival documents and footage, successful music publishing catalogue and other investments for $100 million dollars... You're right morningsong. The stuff in NY, LA, or out of the county won't matter. As to your *newsflash* IAmBryan; I really hope it doesn't come to that. What has become of EPE and MM and others is absolutely awful. I couldn't stand to see our Prince like that.

. Unnecessary drama. Although the tax bill will be based on the total appraised value of everything at the time of P's death, and the tax bill will be approximately 50% of the appraised total, the tax payments can actually be made over a period of years as income comes in.
Despite all the scare tactics of the anti-tax crowd, the MAXIMUM IRS PENALTY for non/late payment is 25% and it doesn't reach that level for two years. So even if the tax hit (Fed and MN) is $100 million, the total due would be about $125 million and could be paid many years.
If you read the court papers, you will find that Bremer Trust has proposed doing exactly that. It's called an installment agreement. The IRS' penalties aren't really that large in the scheme of things. Read it for yourself: https://www.irs.gov/taxto...tc653.html.
Paisley Park's appraised value is $7-$10 million. It (and its contents) can bring in much more than that in income. ....and by the way, Lisa Marie Presley didn't sell 85% of her father's trademark rights until 2004 -- that's 27 years after Presley died. Why was it done then? Because she was smart and realized that his fans were aging off. Presley didn't create anything. Basically strummed a guitar. Was not a creative genius whose songs could be licensed for advertising (not the worst thing that could happen). Elvis was over the hill and barely performing when he died. .
