Several. I'm not making it up, you know. 'I Would Die 4 U, Baby , I'm a Star and Purple Rain' were recorded for a live audience in Minneapolis. Let's Go Crazy was recorded in St Louis after Prince had his studio equipment flown in to record the song properly.

I think perhaps people are arguing at cross purposes here. The song was recorded in the rehearsal space used by Prince et al. So it wasn't 'live' in the sense that it wasn't part of a show, but it wasn't 'studio' in the sense that it was in a regular studio. Not sure if it was one take or several stitched together though?

Are you sure you're not getting St Louis Park and St Louis, MO mixed up? It has been documented that Let's Go Crazy was recorded in the infamous St Louis Park, MN warehouse.

I will get back to this and I will look it up asap to find the source and share it. Everything is still in boxes in my new house though, including most of my Prince stuff.

I'll look it up pretty soon though. I've been checking online in the meantime but couldn't find what I was looking for.

The reloaded 3EG version is my favourite version, period. I always wished the original was a little heavier, or the guitars were a bit higher in the mix.

I've checked some material I have to finally answer this question and your story comes closest. It was recorded in his rehearsal space. It is not listed though if it was done in one or several takes.
