Lol, I don't have to AGREE with you to be considered a Prince fan.

I think it is interesting to see all of the responses here.

PS. I've got a NEW FAVORITE ALBUM.

THE GOLD EXPEREINCE is AMAZING!

My point was that if you think saying X or Y song is rubbish is a new thing on here (OMG, someone FINALLY said it!!!) then you're clearly new.

Um, NO. Someone finally said it on this thread. I am almost very sure that there are other threads like this here. Please stop.

Bye.

You are right. "love 2 The 9's" is the worst.

But "Do You Lie?" is okay.

And "Come" is terrific, 11 minutes and 13 seconds worth of sexual fantacy.

I also like Grafitti Bridge (yes, the movie too)

.

I might have been slightly harsh about DUL? (It would have worked as a B-side, actually) And with Come, it's weird with me because the hook works but the lyrics just don't (the licking sounds are....there are no words) But to be fair, he was going through alot of turmoil at the time Come (the album) was released, I just think he needed a break. OMG, I thought I was the only one who dug GB! It's one of the most bizarre movies I've ever laid eyes on! (P.S. L2T9's actually almost caused me to snap my cassette of the Symbol album in half with my bare hands back in the day! Ah, memories, lol)

Nope I love that movie as well! My favorite scene is when Morris is posing against the car while Jerome goes and tells Ingrid Chavez that Morris likes her....swears Morris's pose looks more like he's waiting in line for restroom!..totally cracks me up! lol

I'll be brave and also say 'Slow Love'. Always skipped it on the album and the SOTT movie. It's certainly not in the same class as the achingly beautiful, audio boner that is 'Adore'.

Me too. Normally there's some part of even the most average Prince song that I love - but with "Slow Love" I really don't like it from beginning to end.

Love GB the CD. Avoided the movie for fear that it would spoil the CD for me, but perhaps I need to reconsider.

First one I always think of is "Everybody Loves Me". Just embarrassing. "Purple & Gold" too but I hardly count that one since it's not an album.

YES!! That movie has sooooo many intentionallly (and unintentionallly) funny moments!! MY fav moment has to be the performance of Tick, Tick, Bang in the street....I'm still quite unclear whether it's meant to be as hilarious as it is...

.

Give the critic inside of you the night off, and just enjoy the movie for everything it has to offer.

It is lots of fun and great music and great dancing, and good enough comedy.

My favorite part is when Jill Jones aims those big beautiful lips of hers at Prince and kisses at him from a distance.

The look on his face is priceless.

She is my favorite of all his women.

The critics all hated the movie "Under the Cherry Moon" and gave Kristin Scott Thomas the Golden Raspberry award for worst actress.

She was great in that movie!

The critics also hated the movie "Rocky Horror Picture Show"

I guess my point is that the critics are a bunch of uptight snobs who know nothing!!!!

They despise campy movies on principle, without even giving them a chance.

I'm SO glad I'm not the only one who was noping that. Also, I'll go out on a limb and admit I like GB, because it's so bizzare and campy. I can KINDA track where he was going with that, but that damn random feather was begging to get lit on fire. biggrin

Come is actually not bad musically, but with the sound effects and the fact that it's the most "average" Prince "sex" song, I simply cannot get with it, he had done this type of thing WAY better in the past (i.e. Lady Cab Driver, Head ect.) He made sex seem dangerous and illicit, suddenly in 1994 it came off as rather blah....Yes, the random appearances of the feather, the strange way Prince seems to be above what's happening RIGHT in front of him, the odd acting choices and definitely the cheap sets and production values all conspire to make a puzzling, discombobulating viewing experience.....yet I cannot turn away if it is playing! lol

IN 1989, anything with a Batman logo on it sold millions. Think Pokemon Go or the latest Star Wars movie for a modern equivalent. That bat was absolute marketing lightening personified back then. People were lined up around the block to see that film and buy anything attached to it. If you weren't around back then, it's hard to underestimate the impact of that god damned Batman logo slapped on anything. It was huge.

Conversely, Under the Cherry Moon and Parade were a comedown from the meteoric heights of Purple Rain and people were beginning to tire of Prince a bit. Plus he had weeded out the fair weather fans. The movie tanked and people were burned out on Prince's act by then. They were getting into Bon Jovi and hair metal by then and had moved on.

Think of the dimishing interest in "Batman Forever" or "Batman & Robin" for comparison and to equate apples to apples but Batman 89 was an absolute EVENT.

The Most Beautiful Girl In The World.

This came out at a time when defending Prince had got harder and harder because things were going downhill so fast, and it was this track that pushed the 16 year-old me over the edge. It's so dull, insipid, poorly produced and is as sentimental as a Barbara Cartland novel. Also that video. I mean, come on.

There are plenty of other tracks I have simply never got onboard with, but none make me gag quite like this one.

Horrorshow.
