He cancelled his Atlanta concert due to the flu...was that the legit reason or was it due to his pain mediciation?

According to this article, he had been feeling ill with the flu and colds for a few months.

He was apparently trying to get off the pain medication on his own. When you go cold turkey you get flu symptoms. Our Prince needed help.

Sorry, did you just wake up and hear Prince died? Have you not read a gazillion news reports outlining the timeline of the events in the last few days of his life, specifically about the plane landing and the "flu" story? There's a few stickies you can dig through that will answer all your queries.
