PR Rolling Stone best album of the 80's? Hey everyone,
Does anyone remember that Rolling Stone issue when they rated the best album of the 80s and Purple Rain was #2 and The Clash's London Calling was #1? I remember when that issue came out and thought immediately that PR should've been # 1, SOTT #2 (I don't remember where SOTT rated) and London Calling # 3. Now however, I think LC is defintely better than PR (it doesn't sound near as dated) but that SOTT is the best of all three. My question to u is do you guys agree with Rolling Stone? What do U think the best album of the 80s is? edits [This message was edited Tue Apr 1 12:22:36 PST 2003 by Pagey]

London Calling is a wicked album but not better than SOTT. Coming to think of it there weren't that many great 80's albums. Joshua Tree, The Stone Roses, Thriller, Like A Prayer, Oh Mercy are the only ones I can think of.
BTW Rolling stone must suck because London Calling was actually released in 1979.

Was that list limited to the 80's?
I thought it was of all time... Anyways, Purple Rain is the best CD of all time, imo... Not only is there not a bad song on it, but the songs are KILLER... Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Except, I Would Die 4 U and Baby I'm A Star are only good songs, not great songs. Hardly classics. But PR is still a classic album. All you others say Hell Yea!!
