The "Does your man have an ass like mine?" performance I apologize if there's already a thread for this, but I've seen clips of a performance that looks like it's from the Purple Rain era where Prince says to the crowd, "Does your man have an ass like mine?". I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. I wanted to know where I can find the whole performance. Does anyone know? I've searched high and low on YouTube and Google.

I have it on good ol VHS:), it can definitely be found on line in its entirety but not sure if I can post links here so orgnote me and I can let you know where I found it if you still can't locate it. hope its what you're looking for:) [Edited 6/29/16 7:20am]

It's a line from a bit he used during the "Purple Rain" tour performances. Officially, you can find it on the Syracuse show but I'm sure he says it on every show he performed during that tour.

Which is my favourite performance by him. The first time I saw that on a video stream I was floored.

i heard he was rehashing that line well into the 90's. anyone know where his bootie went in the 00's?

It was still there, until the last year or so. He just took to covering his backside, and his...er front, with the long shirts.

After he had hip surgery I noticed it was gone. That was right before the 'Black sweat video'. It's gone.

he didn't have hip surgery way back then did he? he went from "does your man have an ass like mine?" to "I ain't got no bootie".

that booty ain't went NOWHERE - he was just sitting on it, & it was still fine

I remember seeing this performance, and it got deleted off YT, I think. Thanks to those pointing us in the right direction to find it again... And I remember in UTCM, that first scene where the camera is scaling up his body, and I had to REWIND IT like 8 times and pause it every time to look at his butt. MMMM, the man had an ASS like I've never seen (yeah, I went for the LRC reference). I never noticed if it shrank or not, but mmm. Just mmmmm. "We had fun, didn't we?"

how about the 1999 record sleeve, enough to make a kid question his sexual identity. I mean, we just didn't see those things everyday in 1982, shocking. Also, his playing with the gender idendity, lots of women were actually turned on and said he had a body like a woman.

Good point- I just looked back at it, and yes, he does kind of have a body like a woman there, and yes, I am still extremely turned on by it as a woman. Phew! "We had fun, didn't we?"

Also-- What song was he performing when he said that? I had it saved on youtube because I LOVED that quote, and the video got taken down, so now I can't remember the song he was doing at the time. Help?!?! Lol "We had fun, didn't we?"

it was somewhere in his piano section, i have the vhs in storage and am shocked that all of you don't have it either because I know many if not most of you have more extensive catalogs than mine. I think it was "How Come You don't call me anymore."" 'so, how come you don't call me any more momma? you got another man? tell me darlin, does your man have an ass like mines'?" then he sings "hooooooowwwwwwww, " fuckit, you get the piture. i think it was for vanity.

Except he straight forward solves the 'mystery' for unsure individuals quite early on, in the lyrics of Uptown. "Are you Gay?"..."No, are you?" But as for turning women on - hells yes, that man was mighty F.I.N.E Dance where y'are, just groove y'all.

he still played with the idea for many more years "have you ever wanted to play with someone so much you'd take anyone boy or girl" Even upon his death, people who didn't really know much about him said "wasn't he gay".

I agree. Those who didn't know, really remained confused about it. If only they were paying attention. Dance where y'are, just groove y'all.

ya, still no one really knows. Personally, I believe gay men don't want to be around women in their spare time. Prince was always around women, always. Whether he did anything else, i don't know, but just the fact that he had to be around women, and only took on women proteges after the time, that tells me everything. My best friend said that he met a woman who grew up with Prince and she said the whole thing was an act and that he was just a normal guy. I wouldn't doubt he really regretted some of the stuff, especially the getting his ass manhandled on the arsenio show, later on. I mean, we're lucky, we make mistakes and no one will even remember them. a famous person will always have those things for people to point at and every indication was that Prince regretted a lot of it. Starting with his telling Chris Rock that most of it was "just rock and roll".

That has to be one of my favorite scenes in UTCM as well. I managed to find the full Syracuse performance by looking it up on Google. It was a few results down on some Russian website.

I was just reading something on another message board written by a guy who was P's butler in Vegas during his residency. He said that when P was alone he would talk to the butler like a regular person, but if there were people in the room he would whisper to someone who would then talk to the butler. Such a front to keep up for almost 40 years though.

Prince did this bit throughout his career, first during the 1999 tour and then Purple Rain where most of us heard it first. He also did it during the Jam of the Year tour in 97 as far as I remember. I also believe he did it always during How Come You Dont Call Me Anymore.

i don't doubt it, i was just watching a recent arseniio hall interview, he was speaking on the difference between prince in the 90's and last year. He said he attempted to approach Prince in 90 but prince would run away. he said, last time prince was talking to everyone. funny thing though, i watched a youtube vid by a guy who was an employee at pp, he said that he was instructed not to speak to him, but once, they were heading right towards each other and he said he was about to say somthing when prince started darting his eyes back and forth and ran past him before he could. hard to tell with the dude.
