If Paisley Park is put up for sale, should WE buy it?

Just a thought, but I wonder if enough fans got together and put their money in, whether it would be viable to be run in a way that is befitting of the man.

It could surely turn a profit (or at least cover its costs) as a museum/commercial recording studio while also doing good deeds like giving access to young musicians and running charity events.

This may be just fantasy, but if it's put up for sale, I would hate for it to end up in the wrong hands. It needs to be preserved.

Or maybe one of Prince's high-profile friends could step in?

I asked myself the same question. The reality is Paisley Park is just a building. Once the art work is removed, the furniture is removed, the studio is removed, etc...it's just a building with walls. All of the magic will be gone. Buying Paisley Park doesn't come with all of the toys inside nor does it come with the vault. In fact, the vault is probably empty right now as the material in that vault is probably being analyzed and assessed for value.

i'd love to see it continue as a daytime school and nighttime music club, featuring students and other showcased artists and continuing along the lines of Paisley Park After Dark. if we were organized enough to pull it off on GoFundMe, we could write a business plan and run the Park as a business.

.

i read something about how a 'group of investors' are currently/potentially negotiating with the estate administrators over a proposal of some kind for Paisley Park

I'd definitely donate my money. However, I'm a bit sceptical about running the museum or the studio; whener there's money involved in it, people tend to fight with each other and an initially beautiful intent is suddenly gone, espcially if decisions are made on collective basis. I grew up out of anarchism.

Seriously, we COULD do this. But we have to get serious about it.

it can be done online, that is, the registration of a new business entity, with articles of incorporation, bylaws and such can be filed online with the secretary of state of MN to initiate the process.

.

once filing and registration have been accomplished the newly-formed entity would need to propose a plan for Paisley Park, bringing it before the estate administrators.

.

on paper it could be easy, but obtaining financial backing to float the first year of operations until Paisley could pay for herself. that would be the hard thing.

.

but think of how many people would come to study at paisley park with prince's old bandmates and associated artists if they could? *i'd* attend a keyboard seminar with morris, if he offered one over the summer. and learning to sing from judith hill? are you KIDDING? A potential goldmine.

I always imagined the state of Minnesota would step in if it came to that and make the site a historical landmark.

Could be done ... A good board of Directors plus shareholders and volunteers...?just thoughts...
Maybe if different musicians held tribute concert fund raisers to donate 100% to the museum.
Then you need to keep it going.

maybe we could raise the funds to pull it off by leasing Paisley Park for august of this summer in order to hold the First Annual Funkinati Summer Camp.

.

including cooking lessons on The Many Faces of Pancakes

basketball lessons on Prince's Favorites Moves

instrumental jams on Pick an Instrument and Play It

dance lessons on Keep Bustin

we could even have various spa functions, with nutritional counselors and such on site preparing meals to enhance the experience.

then in september we reinvest profits into finalizing our long term lease of the Park and generating more 2017 january cash for the tax bill

falloff at the very notion.

Sure, this could be done. But not with GoFundMe or that kind of stuff.

First of all, XxAxX's idea of a school is a fantastic idea. Using that, and the facility's standing as a museum and potential landmark, I feel pretty certain that operational funding could be arranged through grants. There is no shortage of foundations that supply money for educational programs. I have absolutely no doubt there are plenty of foundations that would jump at the chance to be involved in this.

However, grant money covers operations. I don't know that any foundation would supply the purchase money needed to buy Paisley Park. Maybe, I just don't know. I believe the purchase would have to be financed. That would be more of a hurdle than anything else but maybe that's where some outside artists come in.

All you'd have to raise is the down payment. I'd bet that with the right organizational plan, and approved management, there would be a bank or funding source that would make this loan. The down payment might be pretty high, though. I'm thinking 30% down, which could be $10,000,000. Therein lies the big challenge.

But this concept could certainly be pulled off, IMO.

i actually meant this as a response to RodeoSchro's post, but thank you too PurpleDiamond! that's nice of you to say. i think this proves my point that people would be interested in taking lessons/attending seminars at Paisley Park. i wish there is a way
