I love Xpectation.

When I first heard the album in January, I thought it was nice, but I just realised that it's probably the album that I've listened to the most since then, and still can't get enough of it. Even tracks that I thought were lame on first listening are now speaking to me.

Put your hand up for Xpectation!

One question though, why wasn't the studio version of Xenophobia put on the album? 'cause that's all we heard on the NPGMC home page last year so where is it?

er, you mean the studio version of Xenophobia. No idea. Bad move probably (removing it), but still a top album to play when you have friends over for a barbecue.

on my 1st listen...i lit a candle...laid on my bed & just chilled & let it soak in.
probably the best way 2 hear it...i love the stuff.
Xpedition is funky... Xogenous & & Xcogitate r just beautiful...
its a perfect 'chillin' album.
& i think it works without Xenophobia on there.

So far, the album I have played the most in the first weeks after it's release. I played ONA a whole lot, I played TRC like 30 times, I played ONA...Live maybe 1 time complete.
music
I guess I played Xenophobia about 150 times so far headbang , when I come home, I press 'Play', only to shut it down when turning on the tv, going to bed or leaving the house.

It's all a matter of phonetics - all the titles on the Xpectation album sound like they start with 'Ex', but the X in Xenophobia sounds with a phonetic 'Z'. So it didn't fit. It's all quite clear really smile

For the record, I love this album and can't get enough of it. Xpedition is just grand.
Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

Xpectation has grown on me too.
I liked it when I first heard it, and I like it more with each listen.
Great music and nothing more.
I'm praying 2000 Free: The Revelation or whatever it's called is coming soon.

Both hands up. The album's a masterpiece. Rumored to be released later this year with an additional studio take of "Xenophobia". Probably a crock, but you never can tell.

I haven't heard the album but by most accounts it sounds like a very refreshing piece of music, and certainly an excellent means of providing NPGMC members with that something 'extra' to tide us over.

I really enjoy it, since I burnt it to CD a week or so ago I must have played it through nearly ten times, fun in parts, chilled in others, no need to come down on it too harshly. I suspect those who do can't deal with music without some instant vocal fix...

I've been a member for both years but the speakers on my laptop have been defunct for some time now. It's cool - ONA Live was great for me - but I sense the downloads did enough to entertain the naysayers.

Actually, can anyone post a musical description of the songs from Xpectation, or perhaps an in-depth review? I'd be very interested in how the album flows.

Anxiety

I was floored by Xpectation - I thought it would be more half-baked lite jazz a la Madhouse but was pleasantly surprised to hear music that could rest alongside some of Frank Zappa's instrumental jazz-rock projects. It certainly brought me out of a recent rut: I've listened to TRC about three times since it came out. I've listened to ONA maybe twice. ONAL I've listened to in drips and drabs maybe a dozen times...only once all the way through. I've been playing Xpectation so much lately, however, I'm surprised my CD player hasn't memorized the music...so easy to get lost in, I hear something new every time.

What else can I say but this is the kind of instrumental stuff I've been waiting for from Prince since the first time I heard "Alexa De Paris".

I would love a copy of Xpectation.I don't have a cd burner and I've tried to send a friend the link via e-mail so he could burn it for me...unsuccessful.

Is anyone willing and gracious enough to send me a copy?

I would reimburse,of course.

I love, worship and woot! Xpectation. I play it all the time. In fact -- how's this for timing -- last night I played it for guests at a dinner party. Just as I xpected, it was a big hit.

Prince needs to give this album a proper release. I'm confident it would extend his hot streak with critics. (Have you realized that Prince has gotten great press from three releases in a row -- TRC, ONA-L and ONA studio -- his longest consistent run since "The Golden Age"?)

Peace, David

Xpectation is a very solid album. At a time when I'm finding myself agreeing less and less with Prince's lyrics, I can still enjoy an album like this.

It's not revolutionary jazz, its just enjoyable and cool.
