Rolling Stone evaluates Prince's HOF chances

The latest issue of Rolling Stone (cover date April 17) features coverage of last month's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Included is the following sidebar:

---
The Class of 2004?
Bands that debuted in 1978 will be eligible for next year's Hall of Fame. The front-runners:

Van Halen
Spandex! Chest hair! David Lee Roth! Godlike guitarist makes them a shoo-in.

Prince
Spandex! Chest hair! Funk-soul-rock supergenius! A must.

The Cars
Brought New Wave (and Vargas girls) to the masses with "Let's Go" and Candy-O. A maybe.

Dire Straits
Updated the classic British-blues sound. A long shot.
---

Peace, David

Prince wore spandex? Bikini briefs, yes. Sparkly purple cowls, yes. Moonwraps, yes. But spandex?

You can't just throw that kind of accusation around lightly, you know.

It seems like some people associate spandex with everyone that made it big in the 80s. Fortunately it was only prominent with the hair metal bands at that time.

Just another reason Rolling Stone can't be taken seriously anymore...if she wasn't Elvis' daughter she wouldn't merit a cover.

If Prince doesn't get inducted... then it will become apparent to me that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has nothing to do with music.

Go to Foxnews and check out the achives of the 411 entertainment column. The writer has written a lot about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and what a big sham it is.

I guess I should have taken clues from the current winners at all the music awards shows, eh? disbelief

I've got a funny feeling that Prince has
something VERY sneaky up his sleeve for
the HOF...nod

His anti-establishment feelings will come
to light during this time, i'm afraid..

He'll probably deny their induction...
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

He's got his freedom from WB, what more does he want? If he's going to spend the rest of his life complaining about them theres not alot to look forward to.

I'd take Mark Knoffler&Dire Straits Before the Cars&Ric Ocasek easily into getting in.

You know,

Considering the way Prince has dissed the industry for over a decade now, I wouldn't doubt if Prince never gets into the RRH until he is good and dead. That way they can say anything about him and do what ever they what for the induction. I.E. make even more money off his work with out him around to complain about it. Something tells me I may not be be far from the truth.
