Who did Prince take through therapy?

In the Oprah interview he says that he had recently, "taken someone through therapy" and that that was when it was discovered that he had another person inside him. I've always wondered who he took through therapy. Does anyone know what that was about?

I believe what he said was, "I recently took some therapy."

Oh, took some therapy. Because I was coming in to say damned if I know what taken someone through therapy even means. Let alone who.

"took some therapy" -- doesn't sound right either. Seems he would have said, "I recently went through therapy" or something to the affect. I will watch it again but it sounds like he says he "took someone through therapy" which I took to mean, he was there with them as they went through it and then discovered some things about himself.

It was Sheila E., by her own admission. She had been dealing with some then-recently surfacing memories of being raped (which she talked about in her book later, but she mentioned this was her years). She was really struggling with it, and Prince went with her to therapy to work through it.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

When did all this take place? I didn't see it in the book. By no means am I doubting you. I'm just asking.

/// Prince took his sister to rehab and therapy because she mentioned it.

He told her that he'd been going to therapy and discovered that he had another person living inside him that was created during his childhood around the time he was getting teased a lot.

i've got no faith in psychiatry, I think the shrink was just a quack trying to gain prince as a client.

I wonder if it was the other person that was leaving tacks on the teacher's chair?

Yeah it is; she talked about being sexually abused as a child. It had to take place before the Oprah interview, so probably the mid-90s, maybe before?

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Thank you, Trivial Pursuit for clearing this up. I have always wondered about this! I do remember Shelia E talking on Larry King about sexual abuse she'd endured but I'd never imagined Prince helped her through this. Very nice of him.

And the bonus is the therapy helped him realized he had multiple personalities lol

Honestly, I always kinda thought this was a little :/

It was around the time that a LOT of so called DID patients were being found out (just look up the satanic-ritual-abuse stories from around the same time) but many of them I speculate were fake and were placed there by the psychiatrists themselves. I don't doubt that Dissociative Identity Disorder exists but at the rate around that particular time that many were so called being 'discovered'- it makes me skeptical. DID is extremely rare. I very highly doubt Prince had DID or 'other people' inside of him. DID at its core is different levels of conciousness. Not 'people' in a sense. So unless Prince 'switched' to this other person, it's hard to believe.

Btw if you're wondering how I know all this, I did a project at college on the subject so researched it extensively because it was a sub-special interest of mine at the time.

Yes I know the sexual abuse was in the book but I was referring to Prince going to therapy with her. I didn't see that in the book.

According to conspiracy theories, many celebrities, Marilyn Monroe for example, had alters. The were told they needed therapy, when in fact they were being hipnotized. Same thing could have happened to Prince (female alter). It sounds sordid, but you never know in Hollywood. It rang a bell when he told Oprah "They seem to have found another character"
