Who do you think Prince wrote "Revelation" (PhII) for?

He mentions that he remembers now..."revelation" (meaning the beginning?)
At the end he mentions his "queen" and "the pharaoh's hand" (he and Mayte felt they had a connection from past lives in Egypt.

Could it be that he wrote this song for her in 2015?

I'm always wanting to know who he wrote his songs for. I know he wrote "Call My Name" for Manuela. Another gorgeous song.

He writes and sings like he was in love all the time -- right to this year.

I don't know...But I will say it's one of the best ballads I've heard from him in a long time. Everything about that song is just so right.

Very possible he wrote it for Mayte. The egyptian mistique impacted his life, which Mayte was always into since she was a young girl. He said in several interviews that he and Mayte were connected in their past life in Egypt. So maybe he was thinking about that when he wrote the song. Maybe thinking they should have been together, still. Thoughts he may have had towards the end of his life....

I would like to think that is his "hopeful for my future" love song. Almost a calling to the universe that is he ready to find "the one" in that stage of his life, ready to prove himself, his committment and want/need for the complete package, spiritual, physical, mental, emotional love that he seemingly was ready for.

At least, that is the way I think it was intended.

I'd have to agree. There were tiny trinkets of that sound on Diamonds & Pearls, and prince centered around pop/funk with Egyptian sensibilities. He referenced those sorts of things a lot (eg: "The One", "Muse 2 The Pharoah", "etc). Those references aren't unique to him, and there's no way he wrote about Mayte after 2001 or so.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

So you think it is about her? Or not.
It's also possible that she had an impact on him musically and that's it. Or maybe he was "the one".

He wrote it for us.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

The last CLASSIC he released, chronologically, IMLTHO.

Lately, been listening to it a LOT. And I've had the same thought... perhaps he was reaching back out 2 Mayte. bheart

Not sure whom he wrote it for, but I think it sounds like it was written around the time frame of Bria Valente's Elixir/Lotus Flower. Has a similar sound as Elixir. Listen to it. Glad it ended up on this album!

i thought it was recorded (we can only guess when it was written) by the NPGQ, with Blackwell on drums etc, which was fairly recent. there must be an albums worth of material by the quartet.
I think he did that a lot, record an album with a particular group/sound then shelve it and only use one or 2 of the songs (I could swear he recorded more latin music with Renato Neto's group - but only a few tracks emerged).

Maybe it was for the blue angels in the Spica system?

Hard Sci Fi author Alistair Reynolds described one of Saturn's moons deciding to drift away at the speed of light, and when the colony trapped inside the gears of said errant moon arrived at their destination they met multiple other-worldly manifestations of intelligence, the most striking being a jelly-like creature made of self-replicating pixel manifestations of itself.

Then, when the remaining two astronauts decided to leave this portion of space, they looked back and saw a giant pretzel like structure.
