Ever Write to Prince & receive a reply?? I did & Wrote often..Talkin' Regular Postage Mail here.....

My very first note I ever sent....Emancipation was out & in Philadelphia no kind of promotions in any wrecka stores so I wrote saying that as a FYI note.....no direct reply ..BUT...very 1st show on the Emancipation Celebration Small tour???

Tower Theater - Upper Darby/ Philly Area....

I was kinda taken back...was it because of my letter?

So I figured hmmmm....I didn't overdue it but a gal I took to that show ( we were down front ) she had some bad happenings so I wrote explaining....she received a nice note from Mayte sent Fed Ex along with past VIP passes, emancipation napkins & some other things....it brightened the day of the down on her luck gal I knew.

I remember I wrote once asking about a certain pair of cuff links I saw Prince wearing in a pic....I said if they are just collecting dust I would treat them good....got no reply to that one haha.

I wrote more times than I can remember but won't make this a book.....anyone else?

My friend & I used to send letters & cards quite a number of times 1993-1995, even a candle lit tryna be mysterious video!! lol
But when I spoke to him in 1995 & asked him about certain items we had sent he told me that no, sorry, all fan mail went in the 'fan bin' !!! eek

We had sent him a £60 tiepin in 1994 & for 2 school girls that was a lot of money for us, plus all the hand painted cards which we wrote our poems & letters on... And it all ended up in the bin? sad

I once emailed the customer service email in the NPGMC days, and complained about the bootleg quality of the VHS "Beautiful Experience" they sold to us club members. I got a reply apology saying that poor quality was all they had on hand.

I had emailed under my real name through my work email. They also at the end of the message asked if I was "Ufoclub"... ??????

Then they asked if I had turned in a certain entry to the song contest, and they named the one I had made. I wrote back and said "yeah, that was me, sorry, it was kind of weird, huh?"

They wrote back one simple response... " It was... interesting."

I figured it was some staff at customer service at Paisley Park, right?

Well at the Celebration in 2002, I asked Femi Jeya who the judges were that listened to the songs, and whether he had listened to them to help judge the contest. He laughed and said there nobody else but Prince that listened to them and judged.

I feel like I've told this story a million times at this point, but what's one more time?

I wrote him a letter when I was 9,my mom was a fan but by this point,as a young musician myself,I had developed my own relationship with his music so my mom would buy me Prince things as they came out so that I could keep up. So after my D&P obsession, I noticed the address on the casette case and wrote him a fan letter. All I remember is that I told him who I was, when my birthday was, that I loved his music...etc. and I included my 3rd grade picture to prove I was an actual kid. lol

So months go by and I hear nothing, but I didn't think I would. This was the spring of 92. We came into a new year and 2-3 days before my 10th birthday(April 30,1993) I come home from school to a white package with my name on it in my bedroom. My mother said that she had to sign for it, and that she was waiting until I got home to open it. Return address was Paisley. Inside was a huge venue poster from the Earl's Court shows the June of 92! biggrin

I've seen the flyer for those shows but my poster is still different than what I've seen. I still have that poster of course, it used to be in my dorm room during undergrad and everytime someone would come over I would get: "You really love Prince huh?" smile My roomate ended up buying me TRC for Christmas.

I have a couple of other stories but this one is about letters so...maybe another time.

That's disappointing. Would not have hurt for someone to have opened and sorted it. If Prince saw your mail I bet he would have loved it ❤️
Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

How did I ever NOT think of this? eek

Then again I've been a fan since 2010 so letters were already out of style by then, BUT STILL.

I would've loved for Prince to know his music helped me cope with bullying in middle school and helped me accept my individuality. Even if he wouldn't have replied to me, I would've loved for him to just know that his music has a profound effect and that people of all ages love him.

In 1993 I was in the 5th grade. I sent him a fan letter and a few weeks later I got that same poster in the mail and a postcard from Controversy magazine for me to sign up for a subscription. My dad took the poster and got the photo airbrushed on the back of my jean jacket, and forgot to get the poster back! Of course when he went back to get it, someone had taken it sad

I think it was most likely the man him self. ...actually doubt that it wasn't him. Just the interest taken in knowing your name, how personally active he was with fans on line, and also the fact that it was stated that only Prince was the judge of the song contest. Staff may have sifted through his emails and fan mail, but he probably answered certain ones him self -perhaps especially one addressing the quality on a disc.
I feel it is pretty sure that it was Prince himself.

After my daughter sang with him in 2004, I had her write thank-you letters to Prince, Candy, Maceo and John Blackwell. We never got a reply but we didn't ask for one. The letters were never returned but I have no idea who (if anyone) read them.

I sent Prince a fax to Paisley Park after Hurricane Katrina, offering to put together a relief show at NRG Stadium in Houston for all the displaced New Orleans residents living in the Astrodome, but never heard back.

Oh wait - I did get a reply once. I made a donation to Love4OneAnother and asked for documentation setting out the donative element (how much of the donation I could claim on my tax return). I got a nice reply back from someone at L4OA.

I did something really dorky once. In about 1994, I worked at a salon in a major department store. Often times on break, I'd just browse the store, and look for new things (clothes, shoes, etc). I found this necklace with some shape or symbol hanging on it. I'd never seen it before (but I'm sure it long existed before I set eyes on it). I bought it, and over time I joked with my clients (who got the joke) that I was now going by this symbol. When I'd send them reminder cards for haircuts or whatever, I'd trace that on it, and use it as my signature. It was only for certain folks who knew I liked Prince, and would appreciate the humor.

It was coming up on June 7, 1994, and I decided to mail Prince a post card. I found a birthday card, addressed it to Paisley Park, and all that jazz. I traced and colored in the symbol as my signature in the card. In parentheses at the bottom I put "see. u're not the only 1".

HAHA It was so ridiculous, but I was young, and figured why not. And no, I never heard back.

In 1990, I had hand-written a letter to Paisley Park asking for a brochure to know about the facilities at Paisley Park, and that we were going to be doing some production work ("we", the royal we), and wants some 411. I apologized for the hand written note instead of typing it out, because "all of our equipment is being updated". Such a lie, but I did get a big 8x11 manilla envelope, on Paisley Park letterhead, with lots of pictures, and a list of all equipment in all four studios, plus the sound stage. It was pretty fucking cool

I imagined that if there was some odd time when he was around and dceided to nose about on the computer it's quite possible he took a customer service email. There's fellow musicians or workers who talk about how he would answer the phone to Paisley Park in a "voice" to unknowing callers, and would direct their call.

I never wrote to him because the two famous people I did write to (River Phoenix and Kurt Cobain) both died right after I wrote them, and I didn't want to risk it. Turns out the pen is way mightier than the sword, guys.

Around 1995 I took my girlfriend (now my wife) who I had met in AOL's Paisley Park chatroom to see Prince perform at Glam Slam L.A. She is artistic and wrote a beautiful (in words and appearance) letter of thanks for all he had meant to us and serving as the conduit for us to meet as soulmates. Prince was often seen eating Tootsie Pops at that time and so she combined the fancy letter with an even fancier and very Princely bouquet of Tootsie Pops, which we brought with us to the venue with the hopes of being able to get back stage and give to him. We were not able to get back stage so she gave it to a rep who promised to deliver the bouquet and letter to Prince. Unfortunately we were unable to ever confirm if he received it, which if he did not would be a shame because I am sure he would have appreciated it.

This is really bad actually if they were allowed to do that. After I met him in 1995 he wanted me to send pics to PP but wrote down 'C/O Therese Stoulil please give to O+>' to ensure he got it safely. So suppose I kinda have his signature in a way? Anyway, it's not nice to think of others reading very heart felt & personal letters not addressed to them. sad
