This was a pipe dream I had too. If all Prince fans world wide invested, could this actually happen? I am 100% positive that the true fans would run Paisley Park better than the fat cats, bureaucrats and general hangers on would. I'm also positive that (money aside) each and every one of us would bring something of value to help.

And seriously put some damn solar panels on it, free electricity, AND make some money supplying power to the grid. Surprise, surprise.
Another treat. Another trick.

maybe this is something that Questlove could spearhead or at the very least put out there given his relationships with heavy hitters like Fallon and other huge stars that really admired Prince.

If someone sane starts a Kickstarter or whatever, I'd contribute what I can. You wouldn't even have to buy it to run it. Just let the fans buy it, so that it can then be sold to the right organisation. You know, buy it for $50,000,000.00 and sell it for $0.01 to the right people. I just want to see it carry on. I wouldn't want a monetary return on any investment. The thought of Paisley Park being bulldozed is almost as bad as the thought of it being turned into a tacky Graceland tour. Disgraceland. Ugh. It doesn't bear thinking about.

OMG I'm so sick Of hearing about "Questlove" like he was Princes Right hand man. He was an associate at one time, and a mega mega Prince fan at that.

This reminds me of the idea behind the "Maisons des Jeunes et de la Culture" in France (although these were initially government funded). MJC's were local arts schools created at the end of the 1960's so that the arts and culture could extend to people outside the Parisian elite. MJC's are fun and creative places for all people (not just the Youth) and many famous street artists, dancers and musicians started honing their skills in the midst of those wonderful artistic centres. The best one is in Grenoble and is called MC2: https://en.wikipedia.org/...e_Grenoble Life Matters

wow, chill. He's passionate about Prince, has the connections with the people that could make somethign like this happen, etc. What matters most is, who has the connections first, and then the passion to convince them that it's a worthwhile effort? Who would you suggest?

BlackandRising said: Who would you suggest? Isn't Elisa Fiorillo now a realtor? Also, Sheena Easton made a fortune from investing in property. Someone like that. Someone connected to him, but not as connected to him as an actual ex-lover would be, and with a head for complex property deals. Maybe Alan Leeds too? I'm not on Facebook, and private on Twitter. But that's the people I'd approach before any others.

I don't know, but I would think this would need some very high-powered people with deep pockets. I dont' think it's a question of the real estate itself, but the IP around PP, his music, etc., and getting the right people to make the case for it being something dedicated to music and other creative outlets. when I hear "monetization" that means what ever they can turn it into tor turn a profit, that's the only endgame for them, regardless of whether it's turned into a music school or a wal-mart.

Geeeee-Sus! What the f is this? "Repossessed: The Rise and Fall of Prince's Ghost"!? The studio and everything should be a going concern surely? Do you want "Ex-Prince" outboard equipment on eBay or do you want future artists to have the luxury of recording in a state-of-the-art haunted house? . Sorry, I'm still very conflicted about all this! Hope I'm not being too offensive. i wish i'd never kissed your lips, bearded lady

We should buy the vault. Or at least digitised access to it. A building is just a building, but the music remains.

this wouldn't solve the entire tax bill, but what if XYZ Corporation arranged to lease paisley park for a fee for three days - labor day weekend - at the end of august for a prince celebration??
obtain permission from the estate. offer cash up front fee.
invite: alan leeds, susannah melvoin, sheila e, and kirky j hypothetically to be our advisors coordinators? would they even be interested?
the three day event would involve: outside: colorful moroccan style tents set up on the grounds of paisley park for sponsors including local music merchants and other investors, food vendors and for individual artists/musicians to promote and sell their work. kid friendly event, so face painting, juggling, snack kiosks and such in fenced-off front portion of PP grounds. EM personnel on standby throughout. along the eastern side of the grounds electric rennaissance fair style offerings such as troubadours wandering the grounds playing funk, busking. shuttle bus tours and transport
in back of PP purple paddleboat rides on the lake or not.
inside: 9a - 12p 1p - 4p daily tours of paisley park multiple touch and play kiosks with clips of prince performances purple rain, UTCM, GB showing all day in L41A room. air conditioned 'quiet spot' for kids and parents. pillows on floor. finding nemo?? 9a - 12p, 1p - 4p - three hour seminars on recording and production basics in each recording studio. student pre-enrollment required. seminars led by former bandmates, class projects debut on sunday/final night dance party? 9a - 12p, 1p - 4p - instrumental/vocal music lessons by prince bandmates (various rooms in PP? soundstage?) general enrollment 6p - 9p kid friendly dance party - local DJs 9p - 2a artists showcases - live performances from prince bandmates saturday night tribute party?

Love it. And you are the one with the legal knowledge. I don't have much money to spare but I would certainly invest in an effort to buy Paisley Park and give it the lasting legacy it deserves... I wish city or state resources would come in to facilitate this... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

how much do you suppose something like that would cost? to lease the Park for three days? and, short term insurance, porta potty rentals, etc.?? realistically? if we formed a production company on the fly and managed one event, it could lead to more solid backing to rescue the park down the road? There have got to be deep pockets foundations run by Prince fans somewhere, too... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

His Twitter feed reads like a really obsessed Prince fan, rather than a high-powered attorney whom once had Prince as a client. Having said that, there'd be worse choices.
