anyway, i'd say some notable ones are Avalanche, I love You but I Don't Trust You Anymore, Way Back Home, amongst many others those stand out.

I have always felt that this song was one of Prince's key songs when it comes down to stripping it down and showing was he was really about.

This performance in particular, is revealing many aspects of what was important to him and possibly what he was going through himself. It seems that he is singing it like a prayer to God and even points to God at the end, as if to remind the audience that God needs the credit not him.

Also the fact that he marks a long pause during the verses: "Put down the needle, put down the spoon". whilst closing his eyes and actually sings this verse not twice like in the usual version, but 3 TIMES, suggests that he might have been trying to tell us something and it even looks like the song is a plea (to God?) for help.

I agree that his vocals are magnificent in this performance and added to the fact that this is one of my all time favourite songs, makes it so far one his most emotional performance, in my opinion.

It depends what you mean by emotional. His live performances of Empty Room are simply spectacular as the song involves an amazing guitar solo. The Montreux 2009 performance will blow you away - it's like he's channeling from some other source - I'd highly recommend viewing this.

* This isn't his most emotional performance but if you're watching Montreux 2009 - When I Lay My Hands On You (Live) is worth listening to.

He did that song at the Myth in 2013 (same set-up - him on piano and Donna on guitar) and I swear by all that is holy that I didn't draw breath during the entire thing.

This is true. The best musicians in concert are the ones that can emulate the emotion of the songs over and over, night after night. Of course, Prince could not dredge up those emotions each time he played a song but he was the best at making the audience feel like he was. Some of the best Prince moments are when he gave us something other than his stage persona, those were fantastic. But he was a MASTER at the stage persona.
