i agree. bloom's comments are in several books. he was a PR man for p as well as madonna ,mj and many others through the 80's and 90's. he essentailly said that P was very damaged by his parents treatment of him, that he imprinted the 60's "make love not war ethos" and spent his adult life trying to create the saftey nest that he found in the anderson's basement. bloom surmised that he was terrified of men emotionally for all the obviuos reasons; small stature, mistreatment by dad and step-dad. also abandonment issues because of his mother coupled with the free love thing made him such a rascal with women. +++ bloom said that prince sent all of his entourage to him for "assessments"(now THAT'S a book i'd love to read!!). Bloom said that his dogs attacked morris on all sides,as soon as he stepped in the door. lol razz lol

bloom's quotes are in alan light and matt thorne's books. they might be in hahn's book too.

What the fuck is Histrionic Personality Disorder? lol Pretty soon there won't be any categories left. talk to the hand

HPD is real.

You know how a 5 year old demands your attention RIGHT NOW NOT LATER!?!?

Imagine an adult acting that way, hijacking everything that might be going on for things that are only their concern.

That's HPD - an adult who has not learned to moderate their own responses to their own feelings/concerns. Because we should ALL care about that thing they need. RIGHT NOW NOT LATER!!!

HPD is so what Prince had, in buckets full. He never truly grew up or treated others with respect. It was his way, right or wrong, and his way only. That is bizaar/unacceptable behavior regardless. I've known people, mainly Artists, with this condition and they are not who you want to "hang" with for any length of time. I'm sure he developed more of an aloofness as he got older, as well.

hey. Painfully long youtube video www.youtube.com/watch?v=b...e=youtu.be but kinda funny. Let me save you some pain. At 48 min. is the running up the steps segment. 54 min. starts the lace bodysuit "barely covering Prince's junk".

Eventually every cloud runs out of rain.

it sort of sounds like he was stalking prince a bit. i could see prince sprinting away from a mohawk-sporting employee who basically got the job just to get close enough to touch prince. but the white lace story spit i wonder if prince did that on purpose? i mean i guess he must have falloff

.

dang. can't believe i'm actually watching YouTube clips about weird isht like this. miss prince

Abandonment issues, geez he was thrown out of his fathers house at 13 and sat crying on the pay phone cause he wasn't allowed to go home. He was a BABY and abandoned. That probably killed a part of his sensitivity chip. And that show on Reelz said his stepfather locked him in his room for 6 weeks one summer, only allowed him out to eat and shower. His family really fu.... with his head

Maybe it's the milieu or times I grew up in [I watched a lot of real life crime shows as a child] but as an adult I would hit the roof. So many alarm bells. 13 year olds are NOT old enough to be doing anything physical that requires another person in a closed room. FFS, they discovered their genitals. I'd be very concerned regardless of the age of the other person, especially if that person was older.

And throwing out a kid on the street, especially a young pretty kid is a situation that puts them at high risk for abuse.

Yeah.... except he obviously was, since he had the girl in his room -- well, that's assuming he actually was doing anything to get upset about. Which who knows, with Prince. lol

However, even if he was actually having sex with the girl, no sane parent would throw the kid out on the street. I mean, come /on/, man, he's thirteen. And little. And pretty. And most importantly, he's your SON. That's when you have a conversation about keeping it in your pants because you're only thirteen, and you're not old enough to take responsibility for the consequences of having sex.

And then you ground his little ass until he's 25.

But you DON'T throw him out.

There's a YouTube video of a guy that worked a low-level position at Paisley Park. He tells this story of how he was about to pass Prince in the hallway, and instead of doing something normal like saying "Hi", Prince eyes darted about and he immediately SPRINTED down the stairs to get away from him. So yeah, I'd say he was socially awkward! LOL

Is that the same guy who described how one day Prince had on the white lace outfit with no underwear?

Because if it is, man, I couldn't unsee that for hours, and I couldn't stop giggling like a maniac.

Like, whoa, son, that's more information than I needed, but thanks so much for sharing! lol

I saw that video too, lol Hilarious.

Check out the interview with Mel B, specifically the part where they go on the swings. No underwear there either. Won't say more...

The bit when Mel B gets up and he none too subtly checks out her butt is funny as lol

Symptoms of Histrionic Personality Disorder

A pervasive pattern of excessive emotionality and attention seeking, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

  • Is uncomfortable in situations in which he or she is not the center of attention
  • Interaction with others is often characterized by inappropriate sexually seductive or provocative behavior
  • Displays rapidly shifting and shallow expression of emotions
  • Consistently uses physical appearance to draw attentionto themself
  • Has a style of speech that is excessively impressionistic and lacking in detail
  • Shows self-dramatization, theatricality, and exaggerated expression of emotion
  • Is highly suggestible, i.e., easily influenced by others or circumstances
  • Considers relationships to be more intimate than they actually are

This doesn't sound like Prince. I only see about 2 on here that could apply to him.

It seems to me he was obviously damaged in childhood, but how many of us aren't? In modern pornified Patriarchal Capitalist 'culture' we all are, it is just a question of degree. To me a key factor was his financial suckce$$ at a young age. Modern consumer society breeds/promotes Narcissism. When someone is wealthy & famous this is encouraged and enflamed even more, and frankly the Corp entertainment industry is the worst of any as it creats and promoters the fantasy.

As repulsed as I always was at Prince's sexism and commercialization of sex etc when i compare him to many other "Rock Stars" (whom I would never even catagorize as Musicans on the same level) say David Bowie, Jimmy Page, Ted Nuggent or MJ, they all should have been jailed for child rape. Or, hacks like Madonna, Bieber, or an endless list of other no talents who live repulsive excessive consumer lives. By comparison, Prince actually comes off as much more down to earth and "normal". How many of those previously mentioned still lived in the same town they were born and raised in? Instead of focusing on his individual issues I would suggest that the modern day Capitalist system of diefying celebrities for profit creates many of the core issues many ppl seem to raise regarding him. To me the perverted system lies at the heart of the problem instead of focusing on Prince's individual issues as a human being. Although, I really could have done without the PP employee tape...from the lace pants to the show performance sad really TMI!!! Now that he is gone, I would really like to see the focus shift exclusively to his music and away from the personal. I hope it will happen eventually.

I'm totally with Prince on that sprinting down the stairs and down the corridor thing.. He could probably sense a mile off that this slightly creepy dude was getting ready to make passing him on a stairway a "meaningful interaction" or what have you.. LOL

If it happened after the guy had been glaring at his private parts during a concert, standing up front, it is even more understandable. cool

Hahaha YES. He was probably staring creepily into Prince's eyes, wanting to make it this huge deal, when he should really have just nodded and moved on.

And add to that having him staring HUNGRILY at your crotch for an hour? Geebus, I'd run, too. Like , "NUUUU GET THE FUCK AWAY!" lol

I think P had Social Phobia issues stemming from intense anxiety.

Social phobia can allow oneself to be on display for a group ( aka performing) but in one on one situations can be so uncomfortable its painfully obvious.

This usually stems from childhood insecutites; abadonment issues, verbally abusive parents, etc.

Just my two cents.

dr phil said that he was fine counseling people or giving a speech to a crowd, but put him at a cocktail party or in a small talk social situation and he was a mess.

so yes, people can be quite comfortable relating to a crowd or performing but that may not translate to close and personal relationships.
