I hate vegans. Meat is great for us.

Didn't his chef say that he became vegetarian rather than vegan?

I guess it's still better than eating meat and fish though.

If I were a cynical man, I might suggest Peta had no intention of releasing this song... they've sat on it for almost 20 years. Remarkable timing.

While I agree with their sentiment, they way they conduct themselves is on par with a tabloid.

Yeah, well they have to be strange sometimes just to get attention. And the attention gets them supporters. And supporters alllow them to help animals.

Hating somebody else for their own personal lifestyle choice that doesn't cause you harm, how grown-up.

In theory, yes, meat proteins are proably good for us, in moderation. Red meat is associated with increased chances of prostate cancer. Factory-farmed meat (the vast majority of meat) is raised under torturous conditions (look there's a difference between being preachy and stating a fact), releasing stress hormones into the body. Those animals are penned together in their own shit. The meat is dosed with antibiotics, making antibiotics less effective against viruses. Your doctor might not give you antibiotics for the common cold, but your meat is full of it, and now Americans are paranoid about "superbugs." Most people get too much protein. I don't know if you're American or British or from elsewhere, but if you're US/UK you're living in a country where people overeat and obesity is at epidemic levels. Despite the early death, Prince was trim and active for his age.

The meat industry is also a major global pollutant and a drain on the global food supply. And no, I'm not from PeTA.

Did they have permission to do this? The track was released ages ago as part of Crystal Ball, but it sounds like PETA is trying to mislead people into thinking this is some exclusive never-released track or something. I'm vegan and actually like "Animal Kingdom," but PETA can seriously go fuck themselves. All they ever do is make vegans and vegetarians look like total morons, and now they're using Prince's death to get clicks on their website. I wish he were still here to sue their faces off.

You just spout their propaganda.
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I liked the song on the strength of the music alone. I respected his stance, but don't agree. For all we know, he could've despised PETA, even as a proud vegetarian. There's a reason why this previously released song wasn't "released" prior to.

Not really, actually. You certainly wouldn't want to read about meat industry pollution on PETA's website since they wouldn't know a fact if it clobbered them in the forehead with a frying pan, but there are many other actually reliable sources out there regarding this.

I love this song even though I would never become vegetarian. I understand the notion of being vegetarian, but I like meat. And, speaking as someone who has lost 90 pounds and maintained that loss for seven years while still eating meat, I'll keep the meat. But, I really like the groove and vocal delivery of "Animal Kingdom" even if I'm eating chicken or fish while listening to it. I'm like, "Yeah, Prince, that's effed up that we be eating our brothers and sisters from the sea...Now, somebody pass me some mo' hot sauce so I can finish this catfish."

nice to meet you too lol

you know that veganism has nothing to do with health right ? people wind up there sometimes after a health kick breaks their reliance on some food groups but veganism excludes animal based clothing items etc that have nothing to do with nutrition. as such, there are vegans who don't have any problem with the nutritional value of meat and some who are ambivalent to environmental concerns. its an ethical thing.
OH and quite a portion of the couple of hundred vegans I know find PETA obnoxious

Most vegans behave like terrorists.

PETA certianly is a terrorist organization.

Well... Help animals and pay their top level staff an absolute fortune. A quick google search shows their top level exec in the year 2012 was paid $38 million. That's several lifetimes worth of money, and way more than most bankers.

So you hate me, although you haven't met me and you don't know me?

.

Btw, I'm not a big fan of PETA and I do not endorse them.

.

I'm not a terrorist either, nor are any of my friends from the vegan community aroung here. They are decent people who know how to behave. For instance, they don't go to a website dedicated to an artist who unexpectedly passed away a few weeks ago and spill tons of hate for that artist, just for their own personal joy.

I'm not a vegan, but I respect their choice. The problem is that some of them hate me for my choice.

Aside from the lyrics, I never understood the hate for this song.
