it's true, people on here were acting like Prince could not have been suffering from such a leperous disease, it just tells you how people still feel about it. Weird.

My sister works in a MN hospital and says she's never seen that prescribed. It is usually administered at the hospital, usually when someone is terminal. She said it is used for "conscious sedation" in hospitals. And a pain specialist would only prescribe that if the paitent was terminal...and even then, not likely. Some one is probably going to go to jail on this one. Probably why that MN Dr was fired...

I have to aree with you, and I think the same goes for if he had AIDS. Knowing so could have possibly helped others with the disease, any disease, not to mention, if he had partners or not. I would hate to think that he did, and didn't tell them, just because he was ashamed and wanted to keep it secret! Now, I'm not saying that he did, but this would be horrible to think about if he did. There are just so many unanswered questions! Why did they cremate his body so quickly, why did he not want to stay at the hospital after he was unresponsive, what was the cause of the low blood count, the weight loss, etc? Did he already know that he was terminal and intentionally overdose? How do we know it was accidental? I guess we don't.........still so many questions.

The Star-Tribune article included this: "Meanwhile, a joint state and federal criminal investigation into Prince’s death continues. Carver County Chief Deputy Jason Kamerud said Thursday that he has “no idea what the time frame is” for completing that work. He said the medical examiner’s report is just one “piece of the puzzle.’"
So this report isn't the final word -- there is still more official investigation, plus there are, I'm sure, hordes of journalists digging into everything about this for their own articles, books, etc.

Fentanyl patches are very strong when applied one patch can last days. They are controlled, counted and highly abused. I'm glad it was released and I'm so sorry that Prince was in pain for so long. His weight is truly sad and tells me maybe something else was going on too. I'm comforted that he is no longer in pain and I'll love him no matter what.

IMO, when people suffer from depression, flu, cancer, etc, they don't hide it, and have no problem revealing it to others, but I think that AIDS is a different story. As sad as it is, I'm afraid that there is still a stigma against having AIDS, which is surprising in the year 2016. Why would you still be trying to keep that a secret, especially if others could have been affected by it, it just makes no sense! ---- Are people with AIDS traveling internationally, playing 2 -4 hour concerts, going to jazz shows and riding around on bikes? I am not saying it is not possible but you do realize are hard that is to believe? You also have disclose that you have Hiv or AIDS to your partners. How would he have kept that quiet.

some will not be satisfied until they find out he had cancer/hiv/aids or some other serious illness. severe hip pain leading to dependency just isn't enough to satisfy them.

Also, how does the percocet play into this? We know he had it on him at the time of death. So had he taken some? Or did he have it/carry it with him just as a "back up"?..until the patch kicked in? Makes me wonder if he had two patches on.....which is a huge no- no....but would explain the overdose. But maybe that prescription he was picking up at Walgreens before his death....was the fentanyl? And if he'd never used it before, only been using percocet....maybe he thought, if one patch is good....two is better?
questions questions! The fentanyl patch is more likely to To be cut open and chewed up by someone with An addiction or tolerance to opiates . The patch is time release eating the Gel inside the patch is the dangerous Part ... It hits you all at once .

I noted the difference between when I saw Prince in person in 2014 three feet from the stage and those last pictures at his final concert were like day and night... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

I fully believe his "flu" was withdrawal symptoms and his chef said he had been dealing with it for weeks (months?). He needed help...it came too late. Very sad, very heartbreaking. I think this is probably spot on .

Interesting it says 'death at work - No' when Paisley Park was his place of work for the last 28 years, I guess its more about industrial accidents - Health & Safety, I was happier he died at Paisley Park, where he chose to spend his time recording and hanging out.

All this is not bringing him back unfortunately.. For me he just died of trying to find something to release him from his chronic pain. Which makes him human after all.. See U in after life baby and THANK U 4 everything you've learned, showed & given me so far !

im here to tell you.. that your opinion is wrong about that first statement. People suffer silently from depression and cancer ALL the time and don't say a damn word to a soul. Many who go on to commit suicide or die quietly and shock their friends or family believe that they dont want to burden others with their issues. So Prince could very well have had cancer and have taken fentanyl to help with the pain.. (i also work in healthcare in a clinical healthcare setting and fentanyl overdoses are common because it's such a STRONG drug)

In this instance, you know way more about this sort of thing than most of us do...probably more than you want to know. I never heard of Fentanyl (spelling?) before today... All I know is that I was prescribed Percocet (which the tabloids claimed he was using) after major surgery and I took them for a few days, couldn't stand the side effects, and flushed them down the toilet. Fentanyl is a narcotic, it is controlled and counted by nurses due to it being highly abused. One patch is strong enough to last for days. I've only seen it prescribed for chronic pain, cancer, etc issues where a patient can't get proper pain relief from other medications. As a nurse there is no way in hell Im giving Fentanyl and Percocet together...recipe for disaster.

Do you honestly think that everyone who has HIV or AIDS disclose it to their partners or people they just hook up with? That's very naive.
