Regardless of BMI 112 is thin.
It's not a like-for-comparison but an ex-girlfriend was 5'3" and weighed 112. She's slim, in good shape and has curves - in no way underweight.

Men have about 50% more muscle mass than women...so that is like your gf weighing 60 or 70lbs.

112 looked very thin on Prince. I think he was usually around 10-20lbs heavier - again muscle weighs a lot.

Some one is probably going to go to jail on this one. Probably why that MN Dr was fired...

I know many people who go to pain management And are prescribes Fentanyl patches plus Pills My 83 yr old ex mother in law is one of them . Its used alot for severe chronic pain .

I doubt it is prescibed often to non-terminal patients. But there are a lot of sh*tty drs out there I suppose...

In this instance, you know way more about this sort of thing than most of us do...probably more than you want to know. I never heard of Fentanyl (spelling?) before today... sad All I know is that I was prescribed Percocet (which the tabloids claimed he was using) after major surgery and I took them for a few days, couldn't stand the side effects, and flushed them down the toilet.

Fentanyl is a narcotic, it is controlled and counted by nurses due to it being highly abused. One patch is strong enough to last for days. I've only seen it prescribed for chronic pain, cancer, etc issues where a patient can't get proper pain relief from other medications. As a nurse there is no way in hell Im giving Fentanyl and Percocet together...recipe for disaster.

Totally agree and yet money hungry pain management
Doctors do it all the time i was floored
When my 83 yr old mother in law was prescribed
The patches and norco
Even more floored that my ex hubs was
Getting them from her and Cutting them open and eating the gel .

LOCK THIS THREAD this is so disrespectful Discussing His royal badness autopsy ....what the fuck ? Are we considering this "normal " to discuss such a intensely private subject You have the result - leave it at that and give P the privacy in death he so craved in life

We are all looking for answers and closure.

I agree, and so far this report has left me with more questions than answers.

jonnylawson:
Chronic pain is a VERY important issue that needs to be discussed! You obviously do not understand the absolute desperation one feels when they have long-term chronic pain.

If you don't want to read about this, then leave this thread!! WHY get on here and criticize others' way of processing this?!?
[Edited 6/2/16 13:39pm]

Give me a break! Discussing what he was wearing and how much he weighed etc is just weird. And I work with Healthcare providers every day so I know how important the opioid abuse epidemic issue is. I support any and all efforts to fix the problem. Let's focus on that.
For all those still thinking there was more to what caused his death should rest assured he didn't have cancer or aids or whatever. He died of drug toxicity. They would have included any other conditions that contributed to his death. The law enforcement investigation will have more of the why's and how's that led to prince's death.

No, he was carrying Suboxone.

I pray that his mind and soul is at peace and no longer bound to any chains. The cost of his tremendous gift was big and I am so grateful to have been on the ride with him. I don't believe in coincidences, and rainbows don't just appear over PP, so I chose to believe he has already told the world he is at rest.

I agree. Many people don't realize the cost of his gift to us. In the physical sense, jumping off risers - in heels - splits and heavy duty dancing takes an enormous toll. I can't imagine the constant pain he was in. It makes me so very sad. His spirit is flying high now.

Two weeks earlier, in his hometown newspaper:

http://www.startribune.com/officials-sound-the-alarm-over-deadly-synthetic-fentanyl-in-minnesota/374352711/

Preliminary tests by federal investigators have confirmed fears that a deadly synthetic drug nearly 50 times stronger than heroin has arrived in the Upper Midwest — often with fatal consequences for users.

Narcotics seized after a series of overdose deaths last month in the Fargo-Moorhead area — first thought to be heroin — instead turned out to be nearly all fentanyl, federal authorities say. It’s the second time in a decade that synthetic opioids like fentanyl, ordinarily used in medical settings to treat severe pain, have emerged from clandestine drug labs to sweep across the United States.

Now law enforcement and health care officials worry that synthetic versions of fentanyl, which can be added to heroin to boost its potency or passed off as high-strength heroin to unwitting addicts, will inflict a new round of deaths among both longtime addicts and younger users drawn into the opioid epidemic in recent years. Reports of fentanyl use cropped up in other parts of the country last year, but until recently it hadn’t been reported in Minnesota, where the Twin Cities is considered a transshipment point for narcotics.

“I think we’re in the storm now,” said Kent Bailey, assistant special agent in charge at the Minneapolis office of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Wow. I know heroin addicts who were injecting the gel which is crazy dangerous for many reasons. Just goes to show how powerful narcotics are.

The Midwest is getting slammed with this stuff. In my county, last year- for the first time ever, more people died from Opiod overdose than car accidents.
Surprise, surprise.
Another treat. Another trick.

Do you honestly think that everyone who has HIV or AIDS disclose it to their partners or people they just hook up with? That's very naive.

Try as we might, we can't stop someone from their own death time any more than their birth time.

Agree that there was a wake up call the week before that did not get heeded, probably for many reasons.

There is a vertical and horizontal scar on his side and thigh visible in his 20's. Maybe an old injury or ?, may never know. Along with everything else, Prince was an athlete in sports and onstage and even without heels athletes have injuries.

Doesn't change our LOVE 4 HIM one bit as many others have said. heart heart heart heart heart

Reading the ME report's policy at top - they will only disclose the exact manner and cause of death. Under MN law, other health details are never made public - for anybody.

So he may have been struggling with deep depression, sick with flu, cancer, or AIDS. But the exact precise medical cause of his death was self administered Fentanyl. We know how... but not why.

IMO, when people suffer from depression, flu, cancer, etc, they don't hide it, and have no problem revealing it to others, but I think that AIDS is a different story. As sad as it is, I'm afraid that there is still a stigma against having AIDS, which is surprising in the year 2016. Why would you still be trying to keep that a secret, especially if others could have been affected by it, it just makes no sense!

---- Are people with AIDS traveling internationally, playing 2 -4 hour concerts, going to jazz shows and riding around on bikes? Of course they are. The current Antiretroviral meds are very effective with fewer side effects than ever before. Lots of folks living with HIV/AIDS are leading relatively normal lives if in care.

No they don't. At least in CA, "partner services" for HIV is a voluntary program ran by public health agencies. I imaging MN is the same.

NOTE, I'm NOT trying to contribute to the P-had-AIDS speculation!!! Just providing facts about HIV/AIDS.

Isn't there a difference according to sex, body frame and age? I don't think people can compare a man to their girlfriends.

Not you, but so many people went off in the wrong direction when I mentioned weight.

What I was actually wondering is about the dosage of medication relative to his weight? Is is true that a dosage for a smaller person would differ from a big person?

wow...truly sad. Most narcotic have the potential to decrease respirations so anytime your taking or giving more than one together you should never alter the dose and take as prescribed. They are truly deadly alone but add heroin or something else and death is certain if not intervened quickly.

it is, they say it's bad here in seattle, i wouldn't know, i go the other way when people fuck around with anything. Oh no sad that's awful. I totally understand why it happened, I know people with the patches too for their chronic pain, and one patch can not be good enough too and countering it or wanting to can be risky. I don't know about the US but over here there have been concerns about patches being available on the black market and what could be done to regulate use or how to distribute them in general. I don't know if Prince may have tried to double them for a short time and it killed him or what but something like that is so sad and so preventable if you have proper support and coping strategies in place

If he had cancer, I'd think that his family and friends would have disclosed it weeks ago, as it would have been a sympathetic story that would have squashed most of the speculation about drug dependence/addiction.
