I was going to say, he was probably no more than 125 at his heaviest weight, and that's only because he had A LOT of muscle. So yes, he had lost weight and was thin, but he was not of 'abnormal' weight at 112.

"The Media" had nothing to do with this. This is the report from the Department who did the autopsy.

The BMI calculated is flawed. It doesn't take into account muscle mass which weighs more than fat. You can have two people of the same height, one at 150lbs with 30% body fat and another person at 180lbs with 4% body fat. The BMI will indicate that the person with 4% body fat is over wieght, while the person with 30% body fat will be reported as "healthy weight" even though they are fat.
Prince normally carried a lot of muscle mass so 112lbs is thin for him.

Ok question for everyone. The clothes that he had on wasn't that the clothes he had on a walgreens?Just seems odd that when he was found he still had that hat on.

EMT's are trained to do CPR unless it is obvious death, like a gunshot wound to the head. EMT's cannot pronounce anyone, we have to call into Medical Control and speak to a doctor and tell the doctor we've been doing CPR for however much time and no heartbeat or sinus rhythm is detected by an EKG and the AED has not shocked the patient. We never assume that someone is dead, we need real data/evidence to relay to a doctor who then makes the determination that someone is dead. We can find someone cold and with no pulse with dilated pupils and know for sure they are dead upon sight but still engage our training. People have been revived from that state too many times to assume they are gone. [Edited 6/2/16 13:25pm] [Edited 6/2/16 13:26pm]

Um, check you math. 60 inches is 5 foot...now add 3 inches. 5'3"
I think you divided 63/12 which gives you 5 ft and .25% of 1 foot (i.e. 3 inches)
Unless that is what you are trying to say then if so, my bad...

jillybean said: Is this real? He weighed 112 lbs. Oh, this is heartbreaking all over again. It is heartbreaking. I'm really unsure the significance of his weight because he was a small guy and was always pretty fit. To put it in perspective, in boxing, the Flyweight division has a max weight of 112 lbs and the average height of those guys is 5' 5". ....I don't really know why I bring this up. Maybe because I thought he looked thin in the last pictures. I guess I expected his weight to be much lower and point to other health issues besides addiction...

Are we considering this "normal " to discuss such a intensely private subject You have the result - leave it at that and give P the privacy in death he so craved in life Agreed. Enough is enough. The cause is clear and no amount of either denial or judgement will change that. I know we want answers. We have it now. The cause of death. It wasn't a surprise but still it's like losing him all over again. Please leave it at this! People don't need to stop talking about his personal physical attributes. We know what caused his death and it wasn't a shock. Let's just move on to healing. Nothing will change the real life circumstances. Let's try to just focus on his life. I'm devastated he had to leave us the way he did but I don't have the power to change what happened. Take care of one another. Look out for one another. Don't let what happened to Prince happen to you or a loved one. This isn't a unique way to die. Prince's death will give this problem more attention but it's been happening and will continue to happen. Save a life! I wish he was still here with us 😢 It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

You obviously do not understand the absolute desperation one feels when they have long-term chronic pain. If you don't want to read about this, then leave this thread!! WHY get on here and criticize others' way of processing this?!? [Edited 6/2/16 13:39pm] RIP Prince. We will NEVER forget you. Thank you so much.

well, i knew he wasn't no damn 80 pounds like the enquirer said. his weight was in the normal range, I would bet he was about 120-130 in his prime, he was pretty muscular in the PR-Parade era.

Yes, it appears to be the same clothing he had at Walgreens. As for the cap, he seemed to wear that all the time, even in PP. There was that video Judith Hill did last year where they were pranking each other about getting locked out of the building, and when you see Prince appear in the video, he was wearing that same cap. He seemed to like to wear it when he was in casual settings, including indoors. No Candy 4 Me

The BMI is a terrible tool, there's way too many variables in the make-up of a human body's mass to consult a height/weight chart to determine "idealness" or "normality". Most of the world's greatest professional athletes are considered OBESE via the BMI. I'm stunned it's still being used in 2016, doctors have been blasting it for years now.

ya, it is terrible as are those electric things that are supposed to be accurate, i'm fat and according to the electric things I'm not fat, but according to bmi i am.

Doesn't matter, our jobs are to engage CPR and take all necessary steps to treat the symptoms of the patient. IE, no heartbeat, treat with CPR and AED and track heart activity with EKG. Continue that for up to 30 minutes before reporting data to medical control for further instructions, which could be a doctor pronouncing the patient or to stay on scene for ALS treatment to arrive. Rigor being present is only part of the data that would be relayed to medical control, not a reason not to engage and do our jobs. [Edited 6/2/16 13:43pm]

Reading the ME report's policy at top - they will only disclose the exact manner and cause of death. Under MN law, other health details are never made public - for anybody.
So he may have been struggling with deep depression, sick with flu, cancer, or AIDS. But the exact precise medical cause of his death was self administered Fentanyl. We know how... but not why.
It doesn't matter to me... I hoped he didn't pass in deep despair or suffering in pain. It's heartbreaking he died alone in an elevator and per reports seemed to be in conflict, struggling with something in the last few weeks.

No, he was carrying Suboxone.
I pray that his mind and soul is at peace and no longer bound to any chains. The cost of his tremendous gift was big and I am so grateful to have been on the ride with him. I don't believe in coincidences, and rainbows don't just appear over PP, so I chose to believe he has already told the world he is at rest.

Well, we can put the weight / health thing to bed. He was a good weight BMI for his height. Sure he's been bigger, by the guy was 57, he is going to look a little more gaunt. Certainly when I say him last year he looked very healthy for his age. Older, yes, ill no. .

IMO, when people suffer from depression, flu, cancer, etc, they don't hide it, and have no problem revealing it to others, but I think that AIDS is a different story. As sad as it is, I'm afraid that there is still a stigma against having AIDS, which is surprising in the year 2016. Why would you still be trying to keep that a secret, especially if others could have been affected by it, it just makes no sense!

karen carpenter was 5'4 108 normal huh That is normal for that height. Karen Carpenter died at a normal weight, not at her lowest weight. She had gained weight back and had a heart attack which is a very common thing with people with severely disordered eating. That is true but she actually accelerated the heart damage by taking ipecac daily and it weakened her heart even more and thats y she died "Almost all art is trying to become an anaesthetic and at the same time a healing session drawing up the magical electrics.”
