In the huge pictures thread, an early pic was posted on pg 134 that shows that hip scar. We were discussing it, but another pic of that area did not show anything...so assumed it was just an anomaly. Apparently not.

Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end nod

He could have been saved. sad

I have to believe his own resistance is a factor. I have to believe everyone around him did as much as they could.

YES...And many of us on here kept saying he looked bad and thin.

A male 5'3" and 112 pounds would have had a NORMAL BMI

Your BMI is 19.8 (Normal

I never got around to saying this on the picture thread, but with the other image where it looked like there was no scar (on Pg 136), lower down you could see a very thin gold chain, and I think that's what the 'looks like a scar' actually is.

Two weeks earlier, in his hometown newspaper:

http://www.startribune.com/officials-sound-the-alarm-over-deadly-synthetic-fentanyl-in-minnesota/374352711/

Preliminary tests by federal investigators have confirmed fears that a deadly synthetic drug nearly 50 times stronger than heroin has arrived in the Upper Midwest — often with fatal consequences for users.

Narcotics seized after a series of overdose deaths last month in the Fargo-Moorhead area — first thought to be heroin — instead turned out to be nearly all fentanyl, federal authorities say. It’s the second time in a decade that synthetic opioids like fentanyl, ordinarily used in medical settings to treat severe pain, have emerged from clandestine drug labs to sweep across the United States.

Now law enforcement and health care officials worry that synthetic versions of fentanyl, which can be added to heroin to boost its potency or passed off as high-strength heroin to unwitting addicts, will inflict a new round of deaths among both longtime addicts and younger users drawn into the opioid epidemic in recent years. Reports of fentanyl use cropped up in other parts of the country last year, but until recently it hadn’t been reported in Minnesota, where the Twin Cities is considered a transshipment point for narcotics.

“I think we’re in the storm now,” said Kent Bailey, assistant special agent in charge at the Minneapolis office of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Every addict is in some sort of pain, emotional or physical. Stop making him out to be special cuz he is no different. The fentaynal also leads credence to the drug dealer everyone dismissed day one and he stated he supplied fentaynal for years.

Even posted pictures and the denial was thick, statements like he always wad thin etc. There was a paradigm shift over last several years. Even his appearance, clothes and hair wise should have been a tip off

I think this only tells you why he died. It doesnt matter what else was going on with his body. What killed him was the drug overdose.

I have ot go google what fentanyl is...I dont know anything about it....

I was reading a wiki about it because the reporter on CNN said it was the most potent opioid.

He was only 112lbs. sad

112lbs! That makes me cry... He was fragile. I never could have imagined he was so sick. Our poor Prince. May God have him under His wings in Heaven. Prince, you will live in our hearts forever. Your music will live on eternally. RIP sweet Prince.

Agree, I don't like how people are insinuating he was an addict. He had a dependency not an addiction. Either way this is very very sad and did not have to be. R.I.P. legendary Prince sad

I was expecting more information than that or is that normal?

It is normal - see subdivision 2 of the following: https://www.revisor.mn.go.../?id=13.83

Any other specific detail possessed by the medical examiner is nonpublic and won't be released unless the family chooses to do so, or someone petitions a court to release it based on a public interest exception.

yes, there could be more underlying illnesses related that the family may not wish to make public as state above. Other specific detail by the medical examiner is non public and won't be released unless the family chooses to do so.

He could have been dehydrated, he may have had cancer, who knows, but it appears the family is continuing to respect his privacy.

Hip pain is a difficult procedure to recover from and many continue to have pain.

Whether he had hip surgery or not, the odds that it actually helps is not guaranteed. The odds that it doesn't or that it makes it worse are very good. I have a couple of friends who regret hip or back surgeries. Before such a surgery you are consulted on what to expect and the risks. After such a consultation a lot of people say fuck it unless the pain so bad and the risks that it will get worse outweigh it.

Interesting. According to the National Institute of Health: "Fentanyl should only be prescribed by doctors who are experienced in treating pain in cancer patients. It should be used only to treat breakthrough cancer pain (sudden episodes of pain that occur despite around-the-clock treatment with pain medication) in cancer patients at least 18 years of age (or at least 16 years of age if taking Actiq brand lozenges) who are taking regularly scheduled doses of another narcotic (opiate) pain medication, and who are tolerant (used to the effects of the medication) to narcotic pain medications. This medication should not be used to treat pain other than chronic cancer pain, especially short-term pain such as migraines or other headaches, pain from an injury, or pain after a medical or dental procedure. Fentanyl may cause serious breathing problems or death if it is used by people who are not being treated with other narcotic medications or who are not tolerant to narcotic medications."

Fentanyl may cause serious harm or death if used accidentally by a child or by an adult who has not been prescribed the medication. Even partially used fentanyl may contain enough medication to cause serious harm or death to children or other adults

So I'm assuming.....he must have had a fentanyl patch on at the time of death? Is that somthing they would list in the autopsy?

Also, how does the percocet play into this? We know he had it on him at the time of death. So had he taken some? Or did he have it/carry it with him just as a "back up"?..until the patch kicked in? Makes me wonder if he had two patches on......which is a huge no- no....but would explain the overdose. But maybe that prescription he was picking up at Walgreens before his death....was the fentanyl? And if he'd never used it before, only been using percocet....maybe he thought, if one patch is good....two is better?

questions questions! confused

Okay we have the results now

Tragic - I admismiter and work with fentsnyl a lot , I can understand his this happened

Why not lock this thread now ?

I can't believe people are discussing his autopsy and " oh where did the scar come from "

Have some respect

It's probably because I work in the aeromedical and ICU Setting I find ths incredibly disrespectful

RIP prince - you would have fucking despised all this gossip and lack of respect

Surely 112lbs (8 stone) is typical of a petite 5ft 3" person?

Also, did he have hip surgery in 2010 (which would explain the scar)? Conflicting reports on the net some say yes others no. Always thought his jw beliefs meant he couldn't.

Just checked. Healthy weight.

You don't know you're addicted to something until you try to stop. Addict is not a dirty word. I fully believe his "flu" was withdrawal symptoms and his chef said he had been dealing with it for weeks (months?). He needed help...it came too late. Very sad, very heartbreaking.
