Sounds Like the 80s - Animal Kingdom

I've been listening to a lot of albums I neglected (mostly 90s) and I'm rehearing a lot of songs from this period that really sound like they could have came from the quirky Revolution era (83-86). I'm not specifically to songs that have been re-recorded from earlier tracks but songs that were apparently new when released. This song on the Truth CD (part of the Crystal Ball set) is definitely one of those songs for me. Whether or not you agree with the moral preaching in the lyrics, the track itself is very psyschedelic. The reverbed acoustic guitar lays a nice bed for the melody and the background effects (birds, dolphins, whales, windchimes). It brings to mind mid-70s Stevie Wonder (Secret Life of Plants). I'm assuming this wasn't an old song at the time since the lyrics refer to Spike Lee's famous milk ads from 96.

To this day I don´t understand why people hate this song so much.

I´m not a vegetarian (but I used to be) but the message of the song is good and from the heart, and the music is good, too. And I like the lyrics.

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"
