(bugs bunny voice) for honest and for true??? my goodness: nearly four years i've been here on the org and i've never been dubbed as one's arch-nemesis. i guess i'm movin up in the world, eh? but on the serious side--it's called a sarcastic remark, dahling. lighten up some, huh?? Prince's Song reminded of MJ upon reflecting what He went through in His Up-bringing to make a Long story short.

'incest is everything it's said to be' what the fuck is that about? what the fuck is that shit about? Can any of the wise old school (supernova, calhoun sq, rdhull, etc) offer an explaination or defence for 'sister'? What the fuck are you thinking...since we are all brothers and sisters in the eyes of The Creator...I'm quite sure you've fucked a few of your sisters too!! Now get over it already...the damn song is over 20 years old...if you couldn't understand in all that time...you won't get it now...so just let it go! ___________________

Dodger, Prince's response to whether or not he was a Christian was to recite the Lord's prayer at the end of Controversy. So, if you go to the bible and read Song of SOolomon you will get a better idea of what he meant by writing the song Sister.

Just as a “blow job” doesn’t mean blow, this song shouldn’t be taken so literally.
Prince in an interview with Chris Rock revealed how he was introduced to sex as a young boy. He described the experience as one that was “initiated heavy and quick” by his recently remarried mother. He was given playboy magazines and erotic literature was laying around to be easily picked up. He said that it was “pretty heavy at the time” and that it “really affected [his] sexuality a great deal.” Perhaps his older stepsister also contributed part of her library to this “education.” That sounds like the birth of a “Dirty Mind”, and when mixed with a heavy dose of imagination also the genesis of “Sister”. I think Prince is using the song “Sister” to come to terms with this own twisted, familial feminine introduction to sex. The way Prince was taught the birds and the bees is not exactly textbook child psychology. Prince was never pimped by his own sister and forced to work the streets of Minneapolis to make money, nor was he forcibly molested by her. This is just Prince using a whole lot of smoke to hide the metaphorical, personal flame within. It’s actually quite sweet when you get at the heart of it. Poor little guy with no male figure around to guide him properly through puberty grows older and takes his anger out in song.

Sometimes you have to wonder. In 1980,he does a song called "Sister",which basically claims he was raped by his sister. Then,in 1994,he does a song called "Papa",where he basically says he was physically abused by his father. Papa also sounds like it was designed to be shocking; I'd be surprised if it's autobiographical. You're right in as much as both songs could be factual. I'd be more suprised if Sister was because he sounds like he enjoyed reflecting on that experience. Here are the lyrics Sister I was only 16 but I guess that's no excuse My sister was 32, lovely, and loose She don't wear no underwear She says it only gets in her hair And it's got a funny way of stoppin' the juice My sister never made love to anyone else but me She's the reason for my, uh, sexuality She showed me where it's supposed to go A blow job doesn't mean blow Incest is everything it's said to be Oh, sister Don't put me on the street again Oh, sister I just want to be your friend I was only 16 and only half a man My sister didn't give a goddamn She only wanted to turn me out She [took a whip to] me until I shout "Oh, [motherfuckersjustamotherfucker] Can't you understand?" Oh, sister Don't put me on the street again Oh, sister I just want to be your friend I know what you want me to do Put me on the street And make me blue Oh, sister, oohoohooow © 1980 Ecnirp Music - BMI

This is actually a great explanation, Brendan. I love the comment I've bolded above. Prince in an interview with Chris Rock revealed how he was introduced to sex as a young boy. He described the experience as one that was “initiated heavy and quick” by his recently remarried mother. He was given playboy magazines and erotic literature was laying around to be easily picked up. This is just another great song that makes me love Prince music, and WHy I love it.. Because these songs arent normal, their different, and that was makes his music unique. Even if u think its gross, or sick, its still a great song beneath the lyrics of perverted metaphors:)
I love it.. Dirty mind is a 10 (or however many tracks it has) step method to having a dirty mind/thinking differently.. DIRTY MIND ROCKS!
