BET tribute wish list

Humbly - I hope to see something that turns people on to his many lesser known / amazing facets. I would love to see some sort of falsetto acapella mashup of For You and Adore. Can't imagine who you might get for that but done right it could drop jaws and bring tears.

Is it possible that we might get a whole show and not just a tribute segment in the BET awards?

That would be my preference because there is so much ground to cover.

I'd like to see The Time, The Revolution and the NPG.

I'd like to see his favorite ladies, Chaka, Patti, Alicia, Janelle and Esperanza.

I'd like to see Santana and Lenny Kravitz.

Hosted by Sheila, Chris Rock and Stephen Hill.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

I couldn't resist.

It's such a bummer. I don't even have cable though so a Netflix tribute would be awesome sauce. Or PBS even.
Surprise, surprise.

I would love to see Mayte dancing. She was a very important part of his life. The only woman that gave birth to his son. She would be representing making him a father.

I agree with you, and it would be amazing and beautiful, just as their life together was. I suppose if she is approached about doing this, she could very well do that; but considering how she is feeling at this time, she may not do it, if she is feeling like it is too soon for her.

Nice list. Demonstrates his appeal's genre hopping, not strictly R&B.

Hmm... maybe change Maxwell to a medley of For You / Condition of the Heart / Adore?

LCD Soundsystem - All The Critics Love U In New York

Terence Trent Darby - It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night

Sade - what song would be a great fit?

Thx... His influence is so broad clearly my list is not even remotely complete.

Sade - The One? I love your Maxwell suggestion!

Ideally, it wouldn't have covers of any Purple Rain songs at all. They erase his work by just focusing on that album.

.

Bruno Mars - Anotherloverholenyohead

.

Janelle Monae & Lenny Kravitz - D.M.S.R.

.

Maxwell - Way Back Home

.

Miguel - Dance 4 Me

.

Questlove & Jidenna - Chocolate Box

Some great suggestions here. I'd like to see the Foo Fighters do an upbeat number - maybe "I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man"? We know Prince liked them, since he covered "Best of You" at the Super Bowl.

I definitely wanna hear Janelle Monae do a song - maybe something different than what she has already covered at her shows ("Take Me With U" and "Let's Go Crazy"). I could see her and the band doing "Sign O The Times" or "Raspberry Beret"

I'd also love to see Bilal do a song, maybe "I Wanna Be Your Lover" or "KIss" (he has the falsetto for them).

Will not be watching it or paying it no mind.

1) Prince won't be there.

2) I am no Madonna fan but anyone willing and able to do any type of tribute should not get all the flack she did even before she stepped out there.

It is all just Chaos & Disorder now.

Even when someone like Prince dies--- the USA just loves the color divide...anyone want to bet that a Jeff Beck or Justin Timberlake won't be in or even a thought in this Chaos & Disorder tribute????

Face Down.

Dead Like Elvis.

Let me just get a fruit cocktail I'm not too hungry.

What about Meli'sa Morgan doing her version of "Do Me Baby"? She said she'd love to perform it at the BET tribute if asked and I believe Prince approved of her performance of that song. I really love her version of it actually.

If they could pull of a believable high-res 3D hologram of Prince I would be all for it. And if they could integrate the hologram with a live band playing behind it even better! yes

I'm hoping Virtual Reality technology will become so mature and real that in the future we will be able to attend a Prince concert and see him "Live!" again ... cool

I agree. Cancel the award show and make it a tribute to Prince. He deserves it.

I doubt that I will either. I just know they will pollute the things with rappers and non musicians. At least there is no chance that Wendy and Lisa will have anything to do with it - they have always avoided anything to do with the black aspects of Prince.
