Have you noticed any changes in your life lately? Since Prince's passing, I have noticed a consistently growing flow of creativity in me, coming out of nowhere. I've always been very passionate about music, and always sang and danced but never took the time and effort to learn to play an instrument.

Same. I just want to create something. Some of my friends have said the same. They are casual fans so I am not sure If they are grieving quite like some of us. They are the ones who ask if I am doing alright though. And I am not but I am trying to Push. :) Create. That's how he still speaks. Surprise, surprise.

Prince inspired me to buy a piano AND learn to play it - if only for the sole purpose of spending thousands of dollars on lessons to learn just ONE of his songs. Happy. Bucket list item? Check. [Edited 5/20/16 20:50pm] [Edited 5/20/16 20:52pm] [Edited 5/20/16 20:53pm]

That's really awesome. I wish I could say the same. I've actually felt the opposite, haven't got my groove back just yet. A month later and everything is still just bleh. I'm a Makeup artist and right before he passed I was gaining a lot of momentum as far as clients, creativity, thinking of making YT tutorials, etc. Then he passed and I just kinda lost interest and didn't have the desire anymore. I'm sure it'll slowly gain momentum again. We shall see. Good luck to you all in your musical endeavors! From now on, 4 U I shall be wild 💜

Yes, it sounds like we're trying to divert the sadness and diffuse it into something positive. Survival instinct perhaps? Life Matters

Oh thank God it's not just me! Since he left us I've had this overwhelming need to finish a (Princely) song I started 18 years ago as well as create new stuff. I'm collecting my thoughts and feelings for a song dedicated to him. Christopher damn!

Thanks! Though, like you, I have kind of lost my motivation for anything else, it seems that it is only things evolving around music that are keeping me going. Life Matters

Changes. A shadow is following me, something sad; at the same time I dare more than before, telling what I think. I do not feel so curious as before because not many can surprise me with creativity and joy. I think Prince was for me the best part I try to find in everyone I know.

That's really cool, Prince has touched and inspired so many people, it makes sense that we want to play an active part in this. I wish you all the best with your project. Life Matters

It has felt very sad for me as well for the past month and it has been difficult to cope at times, but I think it will ultimately be a strengthening experience for most of us. Whilst we will have to continue our life knowing that someone we loved so much is no more, what we have gained from knowing him and his music will continue to grow and make us grow. His music is so multidimensional and there is so much of it to listen to, it gives us unlimited experiences and joy for years to come. It ain't over! [Edited 5/20/16 18:25pm] Life Matters

How wonderful! I've always loved dancing, our dance teacher actually used Janet's music a lot (it was Control at the time), and we did most of her choreographies, but that was a while back . Life Matters

My heart seems to be more into learning pentatonic scales and shapes on guitar and am determined to one day be able to pick up my guitar and play some Prince tunes. Am going to buy some Prince sheet music books too. Good luck with learning the piano.

Thanks! You will need a lot of patience for that I'm sure but it will pay off in the end, when it becomes automatic and then you can just start playing what you really like and enjoy it. Would love to play the guitar too, but I tried once and couldn't face practicing Stairway to Heaven for the 50th time so I gave up I might start again one day as I'd love to play some blues. I do feel like things are changing in me. In some ways, it's as if a spell is broken, and I am seeing and hearing things with a fresh clarity that harkens back to before my obsession with Prince sort of colored everything. Now, I mean that he colored everything within my creative world. It's not like I was constantly trying to mimic him or anything, but creativity is something I have been devoted to since childhood in the 70's. So his sort of excellent variety and intensity of creative exploration and industry was iconic and set a royal standard for me all these years from high school until now.
I'm also so much more tender now about appreciating life and everyone around me. I hope this feeling lasts! Prince was like mythology that was physically real... reassurance that not all magic is fiction, some of it can be pure creative power incarnate that is real and affecting us as true experience. It is a huge mental shift to take in his passing on as a creative.
But on the downside, I'm also cautious now. I do need to know what happened. I only want to be guided by the parts that I believe were wise. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

This is a really nice thread. Glad I clicked on it. Well, I can remember writing a few things recently and it really felt like something was "different"....When I went back and read it and looked at certain things I could see the results of what felt so different in my heart as I was writing it. It's as if his words somehow in my heart and mind were flowing. I think that gave me a lot of peace. The past few years have been really tough but the worst of it was probably the end of last year going into the beginning of this year. But, his music and his passing have solidified certain beliefs that I have about the importance of walking into your destiny and never settling for second best. That song "Way Back Home" really gets deep within my soul because of how my life was when that song was released and then hearing it now because the lyrics are related to how I feel and have felt for most of my life. I never wanted a typical life, scripted roles, none of that.....and it's because of that I've been able to experience certain things that brought me close to my destiny. Prince will never be forgotten and I'll love him for eternity. Trolls be gone!

Honestly, I'm way more depressed now and I feel like I've been crushed by terrible writer's block ever since 4/21. I still feel like a part of me has been gutted. And it's something nobody but my wife (okay, maybe my cats) sees or understands. So I just feel like some shitty ghost who's cursed to haunt his own life. But there are moments of joy. My daughter (she's only 12 months old) was dancing a little to Prince the other day and I got weepy thinking about all the joy I will get to share. One month ago it was only music I might be sharing. Now it's something more, something beautiful and unmatched that the world lost. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I have been changing my eating habits to eat more vegetarian meals and also to lose weight more.
-It does come from reading about how Prince did these things in his own life.
For me, also, I believe I found to a small degree a kindred spirit in Prince - if just because he apparently was introverted and the fact that he was a misfit- sometimes a person needs a bit of encouragment in the form of a role model or a person who "has made it" and yet who was different. It can do wonders for anyone who does not fit the mold themselves.
In any case, mostly I have just gottent a sense of motivation to go for goals. To believe that I, too, could be a success, not in spite of my highly sensitive and introverted nature -but maybe actually even BECAUSE of it!
...Yep, this has been the "revelation" of sorts for me. Feeling happy about being my self more.

...Wow. I love what you wrote... "reassurance that not all magic is fiction, some of it can be pure creative power incarnate that is real and affecting us as true experience..."
Brilliantly said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...Truly.
It sums things up for me really well. -It IS a huge mental shift to take in his passing as a creative. ( I am not a musician, but I am creative in visual arts, and someone like Prince I know is the REAL DEAL - and I feel it in my soul that such a force has gone). [Edited 5/21/16 6:53am]
