Yeah we saw that. Don't worry. We got you Whilst i love that comment I'm wondering if this
a) prepared all along, and in the event of the tribute being woeful, it would be added to the commerical afterwards
or
b) It was never intended and just added in last minute?
Either way i loved the diss. Quite bold but Prince would've loved it.

I agree. I think he would have loved it also.

The shade was awesome but BET had better come correct. I remember that pathetic excuse for a tribute for MJ. Yeah, the excuse was that they only had a short amount of time but it was still awful.

It was so classic! | |

does anybody wanna see Tevin Campbell perform that night? he did a good job at Essence festival a few years ago

Exactly. They know good and well what we expect at this point. They'll look dumb if they threw all that shade and didn't come correct. From now on, 4 U I shall be wild 💜

I suspect no one will "come correct". There is only one way to do this, and no one can afford it. You need either 3-4 stages or one large stage with rotating risers.
You have to start off with 3rd Eye Girl. Let them do a track. Give the girls a chance.
You have to have an NPG section. With a back and forth between Blackwell and Bland, and also between Elm (Barbarella) and Neto. Hayes should more or less be a permanent fixture. Sonny is covering most of those vocals. I doubt Levi would want to be a part of it. So maybe Mike (Scott) fills in for most of that?
You need to have The Time there for a stand-alone performance. It should also be understood that Jesse, as he is the single best six string player in this entire mess will be shuffled from set to set taking over Prince’s guitar parts.
Finally you need to have The Revolution there, ending with Purple Rain. Sheila would play a set with this configuration (likely with Juan by her side). Andre (yes Andre) would have to cover most vocals. I know he’s played it many times, but in this context it simply isn’t right to have Mike Scott, or anyone else other than Wendy doing the intro and Rhythm for Purple Rain.
I would like Miko and Levi brought in, but I suspect it will never happen
Finally, again, in order to do this correctly, this tribute would have to be AT LEAST 30 minutes in length. Which is what? Impossible. BET won’t do it, the Grammys won’t do it. AMA won’t do it, which means only one thing.
Any valid, genuine, tribute would have to be its own, stand-alone special.

I don't know the big rush to do a grand tribute. I think we still need to wait. We all still need tie..
A DECENT memorial??? RECGONITION???
Absoultely..Why not a longish version of some live clips, vidoes, movies...etc..I would be happy with that. Or even some speeches....(short)
These people need to practice, organize, etd to do the tribute that would do him justice. I hate when things are rushed for the sake of rushing.

best tribute everyone can give Prince is to raise their own game, that's what he was really all about, personally, I could do without the tributes.

No. That's the biggest mistake everyone is making. No Springsteen. No Dylan. No f*cking D'Angelo. No dead weight. Keep it in the family. People like that will only take the focus away from where it should be. Also, there is absolutely no way it should take place at or near any coastal city. No LA, no NY. Since Paisley Park is a bit smallish for live performaces, you need to look at First Avenue or some comparable venue in Minne.

Have people forgotten about the public memorial set for August? Love is God,

When they are tributes like I saw last night, you're right. I could do without them also. But if you're going to do it, don't half-ass it. [Edited 5/23/16 17:07pm]

I dont think NBC is going to devote 2 hours of programming on a special about our man. VH-1 Classic, TV-One, BET and MTV really haven't aired any specials on him either (except the one or two days after his passing). When BET does it, they're probably going to call on some of the same artists that were there for his last tribute...And with the exception of the diehards, the BET audience isn't going to care about former NPG members or the rock and roll guitar sounds of 3RD EYE GIRL. I would be happy with just Morris Day and the original Time and Shelia paying tribute....So we'll see how it goes.
