The performances were nice! And Sheila's medly was everything I didn't know I needed. I was in tears at the end. Thank you for that. "I mean I always figured you were a trip at times, but now I'm beginning to believe you're a freaking vacation." -2elijah

To be honest, I recorded the entire show & damn well fast forwarded it to the end, in time to see Sheila. & then Jerome & Mayte emerged & I lost it. To see even those few significant people from Prince's past together, all representing different parts of his journey, really hit home for me... it is my hope that a public tribute will be much the same. I'd love to see different collegues paying homage to each respective era/album, actually. Anyway, not a dry eye in this house when everyone commandeered the stage, with Sheila at the helm. She really represented Prince's musical versatility, with the inclusion of his most beloved instruments/styles... not to mention her homage to his signature scream, "owwa" lol & her outfit! It was inspiring to see her repossess the meaning of tribute, to turn it from tragedy to celebration. & hell, it's always gonna be a tall order to recreate the kind of feelings Prince could when preforming, especially without it being redundant, contrived or showy, but damn did she deliver, & not at the expense of it being personal & genuine, IMO. I didn't want it to end..... "All the world is faith, trust and pixie dust...''

I am BEYOND happy with the tribute to our man P. Seeing Shelby, The Twinz, Jerome,Mayte, etc. and Ms. Sheila Muthaf****g E tonight was amazing. Sheila REPRESENTED for her friend tonight! She did the damn thing. She knows his music inside out and put her all into this performance, which I know had to be hard. I cried at the end. I just miss him so much. I would've given anything just to see Prince come out on that stage and perform one more time. Sigh..... I know P is somewhere jamming and smiling though. Love you Prince! "Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always

This show was so emotional for me. Jennifer Hudson wasn't my ideal choice for Purple Rain, but her intensity had Stevie a bit emotional at the keys. When Janelle Monae collapsed to her knees at the end of her medley, I could feel every thing that she was feeling. And of course, seeing Sheila and Mayté fight back tears at the close of their performance was just...*sigh*. I'm so happy and sad at the same time. A lot of people that he loved seemed to be there. His hairstylist, Kim, was even in the audience. [Edited 6/26/16 21:50pm]

THANK YOU for this- the site is sending me round in circles!
Sheila just wrecked the stage! Amazing- so good to see all the backing singers etc. The cloud guitar at the end got me crying. (WTF with Jamie Foxx singing Erotic City at the kid tho!)

I loved the tributes especially Sheila E and all of her guests. I was so happy BET lived up to the hype!!! It's so great to hear everyone else here seemed to appreciate it too. It felt like a celebration filled with love. I've been reading so many of your ideas and suggestions before the Billboard tribute...pretty sure someone suggested doing something symbolic with his guitar - when they held it up and pointed up at the end is when I lost it.

I enjoyed The Whole Show. That's the way you present a Tribute - the artists, musicians, choreography, wardrobe, imagery (no f-ing tombstones) & the finale. I also liked that the Tribute was segmented. Younger generations need to know about him. I'm looking forward to seeing what the family has planned. He's not here, but still very near

I finally saw Janelle! She is so adorable and stayed in her range and killed it with her cute self. I wish she had a fuller voice but I love her to death. She lost it at the end and had me sobbing again.

The Twinz were working it! I always felt they never really got the credit they deserved from mainstream critics. They were really great back up dancers for him.
