suomynona have you ever seen a BET tribute? Out of all the television networks, I'm sure Prince would not have objected to BET honoring him. It seems you made this topic as a joke, but most people are waiting for the BET tribute. Hope you enjoy it.

You've got to be kidding. Their tributes are usually on point. BET loved and respected Prince. I'm confident their tribute to him will be great. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ
"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always

Heck no! Let's go craaaaZY! I have a very good feeling about this...hoping for the Revolution reunion with Morris Day, Chaka Khan, Sheila E, Stevie Wonder, Questlove for an amazing three song set! The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

The snark was meanspirited and a slap to quest stevie and Madonna. So no won't be turning in. What's the point anymore? It will be two months later. These aren't tributes. It's programming designed to get ratings using princes name. [Edited 5/22/16 21:27pm]

I'm willing to bad 80% of the people on your list will be included, if not all. They will also probably tag a Vanity 6 tribute along with it. I am super excited!

If Prince was still with us, 10+ years from now when the mainstream wouldn't care about him, BET would be the only home he could find. Prince was very concious of his heritage and the plight of musicians like him. Billboard is the one who used Prince for ratings, otherwise they wouldn't have had Madonna do the tribute. There is a looooong list of artists worthy of doing a Prince tribute before Madonna. They could have had Stevie Wonder headline if they truly cared about honoring Prince. Prince knows BET is the only network that can do his legacy justice, and I'm sure he will be smiling from the heavens on June 26th.

Stephen Hill, president of programing for BET knew Prince personally and knew him well. Certainly ratings are always a concern for any type of television programming, but for both him and Debra Lee, its way more than that, its personal, and it's exactly what their audience was thinking and want from them. Change it one more time..

BET will do Prince justice. The tributes they do are good. All those names that have been mentioned in the Billboard posts will be contacted-Sheila, The Time, Revolution, Patti, Alicia......DAnglo, Mint Condition.
It will be a real tribute, and you will feel real good about it!!. Beautiful, Loved and Blessed
Thank You Prince | |

I can't wait to see this. I'm glad they're waiting a respectable amount of time. Billboard just seemed too soon.

Someone call up Britney to do a lip-synced vegas dance routine of it at the 2017 billboards. Change it one more time..

It could go 2 ways. Either we get Morris and The Time, Sheila, Andre, Chaka, the Revolution, Dez, D'Angelo et AL or we get Trey Songz, NeYo, Justin Timberlake and some of today's R&B/Hip Hop artists and I'm hoping much for the former than the latter.

No tribute can truly be worthy of the greatest live performer of all time. All previous protégés and collaborators, everyone he's ever influence doesn't even come close to filling these shoes. Nevertheless I think Stephen Hill, as a fan and a friend, will put together a more poignant and deserving tribute than Billboard. Baby, that was much too fast... 1958-2016

Umm, correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Prince get an lifetime award at the Billboards back in 2013 and was able to perform as well? Yes, he always had a home at BET and always supported Black artists, but to claim that they will be the only network to rightfully honor Prince is a bit of a bold statement. The perfect tribute would be get together The Revolution, The pre-revolution band, The Sign o the times/Lovesexy band, all the incarnations of the NPG, and 3rd Eye Girl. All on stage jamming together. Get folks like Rosie Gains and Shelby J on the vocals. Get The Time and The Family up there. Get The Twinz and Mayte up there dancing. Have Kim Basinger moaning on stage... Have Ingrid Chavez chase a feather around the stage until she gets hit by a car. Heck, even get Tony M. to spit a rhyme.
