David Gilmour. Both rock icons, both "guitar gods..." but their output, their fanbases, and the stations playing their music seem to part ways. I've never heard anyone from Pink Floyd mention Prince or Prince mention Floyd, but I might be calling up that tribute to settle pub arguments for years to come.

It seems they respected him as a guitarist the way eric Clapton does.
Baby, you're a star.

The girl from the breakfast club film.

Tim Burton also is a fan.

British\Irish comdian Dara o brian big fan

Didn't know that cool Irish, not a brit, he's frm Wicklow.

Yeah - on the day Prince died, Dara tweeted: "Everything you all wrote and felt about Bowie? I had that with Prince. This is fucking nonsense."

Also:

Chris Morris (the satirist) - big fan, used to play him a lot on his R1 show and used bits of "Dance On" as the stings

Brett Anderson from Suede - told the Guardian it was "Parade" which made Suede "the band they were" (so not Ziggy, then) - and described Prince as a "gift from God"

I think a lot of artists respect and like Prince even if they don't care for his music. He was prolific and driven with a multitude of skill sets that allowed him to create his unique vision with others or by himself. Prince had everything every artist would want in terms of talent, ambition, and vision.

Chris Morris is cool too.
"We just let people talk & say whatever they want 2 say. 9 times out of 10, trust me, what's out there now, I wouldn't give nary one of these folks the time of day. That's why I don't say anything back, because there's so much that's wrong" - P, Dec '15

He was at the last UK show, but he looked miserable as sin because he was in the cheap section, arrived late, couldn't get a good position and I wasn't shifting. lol

Where abouts in Wicklow is he from?

Couldn't say. Do know he's fluent in Irish tho & he & his father only speak in Irish together.

bigbrother

Axl was going through LAX airport to join AC/DC and responded that Prince's death was a huge loss for the music world. Surprising since he allegedly dismissed P as a "fag" when P didn't acknowledge him backstage at the Rock in Rio concert in 1991. Duff Mackagan is a big Prince fan, though, as was Slash (later on).

Duff is a very big fan. I wonder what Slash thinks about Prince's guitar skills? Would be interesting to know...

I read somewhere recently somebody asked Slash that, and pretty sure he said he thought he was Awesome.
