Prince's ElectroRockabilly Album!! From 1980 through 1983 (and beyond) Prince had a habit of writing these weird, little, jaunty rockabilly power-pop songs... If we cobbled together a little LP of such tunes what would be in it?? I got: - When U Were Mine - Jack U Off - Delirious - Horny Toad - What else???!!!

Can't Stop This Feeling I Got. That always seemed a bit "Lyndsey Buckingham" to me. I've never liked the song though.

i dont think "when you were mine" belongs in this list. Definitely not a weird rockabilly song. Actually one of my favorite Prince songs...

The live version of "Alphabet St" ("Nude Tour") always had that feel to me. Especially with the fast and clean guitar licks.

. What you are looking for are basic I-IV-V chord progressions with the guitar as the prominent instrument. Prince was real good at that. The ones mentioned above are fine examples. I'll add these: . "Sister" "Kiss" "So Far, So Pleased" "Wherever U Go, Whatever U Do" "Peach"

Let's Pretend We're Married (the Prince and the Revolution Live concert version) And Prince did covers of Little Richards' The Girl Can't Help it (1956) Elvis' Love Me Tender (1956), Jailhouse Rock (1957), All Shook Up (1957), (Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear (1957) and It's No Secret (What God Can Do) (1957) Jerry Lee Lewis' Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On (1957) Chuck Berry's Johnny B. Goode (1958)
Goodnight, sweet Prince.

Even though it was never recorded and he gave to The Time, I think Dance to the Beat would be a perfect addition.

Broken (also known as Broken, Lonely & Crying) fits in this genre. [Edited 5/18/16 16:29pm]

Very good thread. I think "After Hi School" on The Time's debut album is in a similar vein. However, while Prince played all the instruments on the track and provided background vocals, Dez actually wrote the song.
