Speculation - The coming Prince mega-biography... You know it's coming. I want the writer to be someone not interested in scandal and titilation but someone who thirsts for the Truth of Who Prince Was and What Motivated Him. I would hope that the hundreds of close associates, friends, and band mates who worked with him would participate.

IMHO, the best way to go is to follow the Rolling Stone's NPG article. Told entirely in quotes from those who were there. A writer is hired, interviews everyone and structures the whole thing, but not a word is actually theirs. This, I'm sure, with the right people involved, would be the definitive book on Prince. I'm not sure how common this approach is in a full length book, but it worked wonders in Brad Dukes's Reflections - the definitive work on Twin Peaks, told entirely in the words of the cast and crew. | |

some of the people who would do this the most justice are not writers...but maybe they could work with a writer. for the writer i would rather see an experienced biographer rather than a music writer..maybe someone who has done historical biographies and could have some objectivity "If u love somebody, your life won't be in vain

This sounds crazy...But I also love VH..and recently read a very well done biography.
I don't think the author was a 'writer' as a first profession. I think a historian. Would definitely be written without the drama and one sided-ness. I thought of writing to him to ask...lol

I like the term "mega-biography". That comes across to me as a compilation, written by multiple authors, based on the varied aspects of contributions from the vastly diverse people that orbited in Prince's universe. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart. | |
