I am not watching the Madonna tribute

Prince would never allow this. SHe is an old whore who is pimping the memory of Prince for her own glory. She isn't qualified for such a stage of tribute for Prince - not unlike that bullshit Lady Gaga did to pimp Bowie's memory.

Well, I join you (although I wouldn't call her an old whore). People who love her and rave about her as an "entertainer" - I just don't see it. Like, have these people not ever seen talent before!?

She's a terrible singer, a terrible musician - I seriously do not understand how this happened.

I decided from the start that I wasn't going to be watching the Billboard awards period. Once I found out Madonna was doing a Prince tribute, it didn't change my mind at all, I'm still not watching. And it's not because they have Madonna doing it, I just feel like his tributes are going to be watered down and insincere....that is unless they had any of his former groups/bands/proteges doing it which would make seem more justifiable.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

It's just a crappy awards show tribute, seriously who cares?! It doesn't take away from or add anything to Prince's legacy at all. Personally I'm not a fan of Madonna's but I'll watch because I'm a curious person and just have to see for myself if it's a train wreck or she manages to pull it off.

Aren't you the least bit curious to watch? even just to see how bad it might be?! I'd prefer you watched then gave your scathing assessment on here afterwards!

Your loss.

Madonna the old whore will nail it.

And isn't it ironic how people have the audacity to call Madonna "old" when she was the same age as Prince. Sexism at its best.

There have been and will be many tributes made to Prince by a variety and multitude of artists and bands. Why in fact does this particular tribute by Madonna at the Billboard music awards bother his fans so much? Is the Billboard awards such a prestigous event that it has to be done by a particular brand of artist?

Make sense of this for me?

Yep, if someone wants to do a tribute, then thats fine, let them do it. Yes some will be annoying, but thats life!

If they include 3rd Eye Girl, The NPG, and Thw Revolution it could work if they let the bands do their thing.

Plain and simple with Tributes they are always rushed. This was way too soon and sounds as bad as what happened with Bowie at the Grammy show. The only way I can say a tribute will be done right is too have his artists doing it, Fdeluxe (the family), wendy/lisa/shelia/3rd eye girl/ The Revolution etc...Sorry I just do not want to even see Madonna or others like a Beyonce or Alicia Keys whomever try it and fail, its not about the talent or even the way they do it, I just don't feel that they should be choosing people out of his circle. If Judith Hill and Andy Allo arent there, sorry its a BS tribute.

Jesus....the show hasn't even aired and ppl are cuttin git down already.

Personally I'm fine with it being MAdonna. Even if it was Lenny Kravitz or Terence Trent D'Arby or someone else from the 80s music scene, I wouldn't mind. I'd rather it be them than the sub-par starlets Prince used to pal around with.

If Madge comes out with the Revolution as her bcaking band, then I'll be pretty impressed.

I have no problem with Madonna the superstar doing a tribute to her contemporary superstar Prince

he certainly had no problem performing a private gig for her in MPLS when she was there recently - he probably considered her a friend

With Prince passing there is such a massive void in the world of music, so why wouldn't any artist not want to pay tribute.

I remember after Bowie died many people on here complained that Prince hadn't done anything to show respect to such a musical icon dying.

If Madonna wants to do a tribute then that's her right. Just like its your right not to watch it.

So he worked with her, and invited her out for a private show last fall - but he would "never have allowed this"?

Whatever dude.

Sorry, but to me this makes no sense. Why can a tribute only be done by people who were very close to Prince or his best friends?

What made an artist like Prince great was that he affected so many people on a mass scale in such a personal way who weren't his friends or didn't know him personally. We on this forum aren't in Prince's closest circle, yet his music affected us deeply. That's the whole point of a tribute, to show how a great artist like Prince changed your life and affected you emotionally even though he wasn't perhaps your best friend.

Here is an interview of the producer of the awards talking about the choice of Madonna. The tribute was created in a collaborative way between her and the producers. The producer says it's going to be something intimate and very beautiful. So I'm expecting some kind of scaled down acoustic thing, totally different from what Gaga did. I don't see how you can assume it's going to be bad just because Gaga's tribute to Bowie was bad, when this tribute seems to be very different in tone.

Have an open mind. I think Madonna will surprise a lot of people.

I've never really been a Madonna fan, but calling her an 'old whore' is just offensive.

Just my opinion.
