Many singers now a days have an earpiece to hear themselves or the band playing (I'm not a musician that's my guess as to why they have it) and I've noticed now that I have never seen Prince use an earpiece.

Are there any professionals or someone in the know to explain why he didn't use one?

it's my understanding that he used a broncholyzer instead. when turned up to full blast, it would have resonated in tune with his frequencitionalizer, allowing him to stay perfectly in tune. it probably wouldn't have shown under his clothes

There are a number of reasons why so many artists have moved over to in-ear monitoring in recent years. I'm always surprised when people DON'T use them, tbh
