The "Remembering Prince" sign on top is what got me. I took the pic, and ran out.

Aw wow I'm glad I'm not the only one. I see way more men in purple lately.

I've been crying in public a lot too. Grocery lines are the worst one of cry.
Surprise, surprise.
Another treat. Another trick.

How are you going to have a prince display like that and not put "Come", "Emancipation" and "Musicology" on it?

What makes you think stock is available? Emancipation & Musicology are long out of print. Come? Not popular and likely forgotten by many retailors. They don't have "Sign O The Times". That's the real crime. They don't have "Hit N' Run Phase 1", a recent release.

You can preorder on Amazon. Come is coming.

I was in Best Buy this week and the prices on the cds hadn't gone up. They had Purple Rain, UTCM, and GB dvd's and blue ray. Only Prince cd's on the shelf. The guy said that they were waiting on a new shipment and he would text me when it came in. My local mom and pop music store had Come and a few other 90's cds-Love Symbol, Diamonds and Pearls, GB soundtrack. Barnes and Nobles only went up to Puple Rain music wide.

Beautiful, Loved and Blessed

Thank You Prince

This HMV place look like Sam Goody before it went bankrupt but they dropping the ball on those 3 albums. "Emancipation" alone could run for about $75 to $125 since it is a 3 disc set. $175 if one of the concerts associated with that album are included. "Come" was a flop when it originally got released but i think people caught onto it in later years. "Come" wouldnt be a big seller but it would sell more units than when it was released. "Musicology" should be on that shelf because its a damn fine experimental album and cause it was really Prince's last truly great album. Everything that came after "Musicology" was okay and had a few good songs on it but they were mostly confusing albums. I cant wait until the contents of the vault are released and then the shelves will really be overflowing with Prince stuff. Can you imagine the price it would be for a collection of music videos that are mixed with the unreleased ones? The prices for the concert films alone are going to be astronomical. Hell, what if someone comes along and finishes Prince's book? It is going to be hard as hell to find a reasonably priced copy on amazon. Its really a tragic time to be a Prince fan cause of the passing but its also a good time to be one cause of all the possibilities of what could happen with the vault.

Because the person ordering the stuff has no clue. smile Let's hope it's on the other side,eh?

Okay I admit I don't own any vinyl, how much were Prince albums before?

I went to Barnes and Noble the other day and they had the 1999 vinyl for $35. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it wasn't that high before.

I bought vinyl back in the day and most of them were under 10.00. 6.99, 7.99. 9.99 for a double. I think Controversy was probably around 8.99. My poster is long gone though.

This definetly is NOT a store in Australia. Have been to two record stores to try to buy more Prince albums and they were all out of his stuff!!!

Even two weeks after his death one store STILL had no more than just the latest Hit n Run.

We always have to miss out over here...

Only saw him perform once ... broken - too young on his first visit, caught his second, dumbly missed his third (found out at work that he had just had concerts in my city) and could not afford the Piano and a Microphone.

That's sort of funny.

...and yet, I have been the same somewhat my self - bawling my eyes out in my car while listening to Purple Rain.

My tribute to Prince has been to play his music loudly in my car. Went to see Purple Rain too at the cinemas. So glad I went.

Oh, and this is REALLY sad: I drove past the
Arts Center here in Melbourne at night, where he played Piano and A Microphone in February, just to be close to where he would have been and what he would have seen. ...so wish I had been able to secure a ticket to this show, it would have made his passing more manageable.
Supposedly on his twitter account he had a pic of Melbourne (Australia) amd the word: beautiful'.

$30 AUD is about what we always pay in Australia. Average price for a cd is about $25.

What I see here is our Hero in this store being on discount. Prince shouldn't be an artist who's music should ever go across the counter for a discount.

After the iron pimps cash in, they will relgate Prince to a few copies of Purple Rain in the R&B section, if that. People will forget him and only the true fans will be interested when the posthumous unreleased stuff starts coming out. I dont forget how littel respect the corporate side gave our foremost living legend while they act like a bimbo like Beyonce is a genius.

I bought the COntroversy album with the original poster for $8 when it was released on 1981 - and I still have it.

Check out the interview I just posted. Prince actually criticizes music on the radio (in the late 90s at the time). Other times I remember him being more evasive in regards to other performers (e.g. He'd state that he can't lsten to others' music because he starts rearranging it).

I agree with you. But it's down to the public taste. If they buy music based on temporarily catchy tunes and lots of physical appearance or image, then what can you do. It may have also been because he sold some albums himself, that some stores would not stock his stuff because he rejected Warners.

He mentioned not being in the charts because of not going through a company like Warner Bros.

So you 'fans' that verbally gesticulate about stores cashing in - should they just not sell any of his music anymore? Should the public's desire to own Prince music in the wake of his passing, as a their own personal gesture of appreciation and mourning be denied because someone in the hardcore fanbase has a knot in their knickers? Ol' boy's estate is still getting the cash flow, so what's the problem?

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

So true. People who would not have bought Prince's music before are now buying it. How could that possibly be a bad thing? Should they have to pay hundreds of dollars on eBay to 'prove their worth', or something? I just don't get it... disbelief
