Prince P&M Tout: Is that a flatscreen w lyrics in front of him? I've never seen Prince with a lyric prompter for live performances before...have you?
Also the big candelabra on stage with him on the left. Is that an homage to liberace?

it seems that he had an ipad on the piano with the lyrics loaded. he said in an interview (arsenio maybe) that he does forget them from time to time... um, did forget them..dammit... "If u love somebody, your life won't be in vain
And there's always a rainbow, at the end of every rain."--peace and love, dear prince.....

Ive seen them in shows over the past 6 or 7 years. Less obvious on normal stage show as they are a ground level. i think it's probably normal practice. The ONA tour they had old fashioned music sheets.

Yes he had a tablet with lyrics...one of his people came out about 5 min before the start of the show and put it down on the piano at the Atlanta shows. He would scroll through it a few times during the show, trying to get to whichever song he wanted to do next.. And yes he had been using some kind of display with lyrics for several years or longer.

I first noticed them during the Musicology tour, they were all over the stage, so you could easily see them. In fact, the lyrics had the instead of I on the teleprompter. I thought that was funny. I don't think he needed 100% because he didn't remember the words, but used it to keep his place. "Am I on the 2nd chorus or the 3rd?" Also, I think people complained when he would only do the 1st verse and a chorus then go on to the next song, like a medley. ON top of all that, he had 3 decades worth of hits to remember. I'd rather him use a teleprompter than forget the words.

. He was using them throughout the shows at the London O2 in 2007. . I seem to remember an interview with the woman who's job it was to work out which song he was playing and quickly load up the correct lyrics, since he didn't always stick to the setlist! .
