Prince - the person In the last three weeks we have heard a lot of things about our guy that we didn't know. I may doubt the veracity of some of them, and others might just be influenced by a collective sense of loss, but I have to admit that my image of Prince, the person, has changed massively, in a positive way. I used to think of him as an individual detached from reality and obsessed with money who cared about no-one other than himself. Since the 21st we have learned that he was actually quite happy to contribute with money to causes he believed in, including some environmental ones, that he had helped a lot of acquantances, famous or otherwise, when they were in need. We also know that he was still in touch and in good terms with Manuela (I'm not 100% certain about this one though) and other people from his past. But most importantly, we know that he was in a lot of pain and that, while he had friends who cared for him, he was alone. So while Prince used to really drive me mad, now I just feel like I want to give him a hug... Again, I understand that when someone passes it is very difficult to be objective about them, I now feel a lot warmer towards Prince as a person. Have anyone else's views about Prince R Nelson changed in the last three weeks? [Edited 5/10/16 12:15pm] | |

I guess we all knew he was into charities and donating money to all kinds off good causes, but I was touched by the stories about the ballet school in New York and the story Van Jones told about the solar panels. He was more down to earth than I knew and that was great to hear.
Though I never really understood the "he only cares about money" discussion. If he did IMO he would have released video/DVD boxsets of all his tours, all different kinds of special editions box-sets. Things like, for example, U2 is always doing.
But, to stay on topic, in that aspect it slightly changed my view. Produced, Arranged, Composed & Performed by PRINCE
