The first Avenue show is fairly easy to find online on semi decent quality video...

Why would you leave Computer Blue off the original album.

Also I already own all of that. The only thing to really interest me is stuff previously unheard.

The tracklist could be much better than that when it comes to non-album material: lots of versions from the singles and promo videos are being left out from that list above, there are probably many more interesting outtakes than we know that would deserve to be added in order to make a nice unreleased "PR2" album, I think it'd be worth it having the various cuts of Computer Blue in order to show how the song evolved, and finally G-Spot, the Time and A6 songs have no business being here (let's have Jill Jones, Ice Cream Castles and A6 reissues instead) though I agree Modernaire would be a nice addition since not available elsewhere, but WB would have to licence it from Dez, who I'm sure wouldn't mind the extra bucks).

I agree that the 1983 show would be essential if the video can be restaured, but it makes the presence of the extended cuts from PR, IWD4U and BIAS redundant in audio.

This whole thing needs would need real, serious curating work and some more research.

In regards to the First Avenue footage. I know for a fact better quality exists. I remember seeing 'Electric Intercourse' on youtube of all places maybe 6 or 7 years ago. I wasn't up on capturing video back then. It was maybe a first gen copy, it had a red band on the video, but somebody has it. It wasn't up long though.

.

Someone else must have seen it too. Someone can back me up on that i'm sure.

Um yes. I'm with it. Add DISC 6 - Purple Rain DVD remastered with behind the scenes footage/making of featurette + all official music videos. Actually might as well throw in the wholes strange tales from the rain release.

I'd like a version of the movie with music videos, out takes, cut/deleted scenes... Behind the scenes stuff if that exists.

Also I think it's funny when people say they want something and list tracks and then someone else says I already have those. Like since they're the lucky one to have rare stuff everyone else does. I don't have anything cool like that.
Surprise, surprise.
Another treat. Another trick.

This would call for a collaboration with WB films, let's remember that WB films and WB Records are now 2 entirely separate companies, so I doubt WB films would let any unreleased footage from the film end-up anywhere else than on a DVD rerelease of the movie. Now they could collaborate on a massive package that would be centered around both the movie and the album, but execs usually don't like to deal with all those licencing issues.

Yes, that's what I meant. A 6th DVD disc added onto the musical box set proposed by the OP. The licensing on the music side would be with P's estate once it's settled and I couldn't imagine why they wouldn't be game for something like this. I guess there could be licensing issues on the film side, but again, I couldn't imagine that they wouldn't atleast consider coming together in partnership on this considering the massive money that stands to be made.

I'm more worried about WB films when it comes to this. Those are people who get upset at a director because his movie "only" made a 400 millions profit, so I don't think they care much for the few bucks they'd make from such a package: the logic behind entertainment companies avoiding joint ventures is that they need to put effort in something and share the profit at the end, and they ususally consider this a waste of resources. They may consent to a new PR DVD with new extra material if they still have any left in their own vault, but I doubt they'd be willing to work with WB Music. But Sony is working with Marvel now, so anything is possible...

Yeah, I mean I just think it's highly possible. Especially now with Prince's death. Whereas it might've been MUCH more unlikely while he was alive (sadly). Purple Rain is already made and done, the money they would put into this isn't even half of what they'd put into a brand new film project. So we'll see. All we can do is hope. Or *cough* see if something "fan" made comes out .... Lots of fans with lots of access running around.

They (WB) may not have the rights to any of it at this point.

.

Folks need to understand that it may be many years before we hear anything remotely like this due to there being no will.
