They (WB) may not have the rights to any of it at this point.

.

Folks need to understand that it may be many years before we hear anything remotely like this due to there being no will.

Yes exactly. And even when there is one, they may not do many releases. There aren't that many hardcore Prince fans, and after a few years, the more casual ones will largely forget about him again..sad but true.

If we're dreaming big -- a CD with the original film score -- didn't that win a Grammy? You can hear a rough version of it on Ultimate Rain.

I'd love everything. Give me all those versions of "Father's Song" and the Wendy/Lisa boombox demo of Purple Rain and piano solo version with just Prince as well.

And while we're at it, someone name a board trust to handle the Vault of Wendy, Lisa, Matt & Susan.

There's a new Glamorous Life reissue coming soon, with eight bonus tracks.

There is a market for reissues with bonus material.

I don't think something like that will happen. We'll probably get a remastered PR with the b-sides and remixes. There's the rights issue, who has them? The Trust? WB?

Putting all that stuff in a box set requires time and energy, and they know they don't have a lot of time to get that sympathy money. Also, who will get all that stuff together and decide what should and shouldn't be included? Sheila? Tyka? Alfred? Jimmy Jam?

I think there's way too much red tape involved for anything to happen soon.

I hope I'm wrong, and your 5 disc set comes out before Christmas smile

Whoa wait a minute what does this mean? Can anyone tell me if those bonus tracks are previously released (ie masters supplied to Warner Bros back in the day)?

Did Prince getting HIS masters back include getting the masters back of the Protege albums/songs?

I assume Sheila E knew about this impending release? Does that shed further light on her stance re what should be done with the Vault?

'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

The masters for Sheila E, The Time and the 6's albums have remained in WB's hands to this day.

All the bonus tracks on this rerelease have previously been released and are from the 7'' and 12'' singles related to the album.

This whole thing has nothing to do with the vault.

If new music and vault stuff is gonna be stuck behind red tape for awhile, then I say go ahead and get the CD remaster campaign rolling, including a 2nd disc with b-sides, extended versions, and official remixes. That's better than having to wait several more years for a bloated box set of Purple Rain. Then, once everything is settled, they can concentrate on completed unreleased albums sitting in the vault, and then follow those up with the rest of the best outtakes (ie. Crystal Ball 2).

I'm surprised there hasn't been any discussion about Purple Rain being part of the Criterion Collection, plus they can add to what was on the Anniversary DVD.

Prince did a remaster of the album he hasn't released but we don't know if he had plans to do a Deluxe Edition. That's something they're going to find out.

We've already had a 20th, 25th, 30th pass (in 2 years 35th) where he had the opportunity to put it out there and didn't.

We're at the 30th of Parade and that would have been an awesome Deluxe Edition. Could it be a Criterion movie? Yeah because they put cult classics in the Collection, not just classic films and foreign films.

Look, nothing is going to happen until the inheritence is settled. WBR will go on with already established plans, but don't expect there to be a massive amount of deluxe releases anytime soon.
