Since Prince’s death there has been speculations and rumors running amok. These things have taken the form of numerous journalist articles, news reports, blog pieces from people I have no idea who they are, but they claim a relationship of some type with Prince. I, myself, have never met Prince, except in dreams. I have never had a relationship with him. I have never had a friendship with him. I was a “fam”, as he preferred to call those that followed and loved his music.

At first, I was following these so-called stories, because I wanted to know the truth. I wanted to find out how someone who was so energized, so vital, so alive during those last concerts could be gone 7 days later. I also was hoping to find inspiration on how to honor someone who had touched my life in ways that he could never know.

I did thank him on Twitter, for bringing friends into my life that I would never have known had it not been for our mutual love of his music. And for his “introduction” to one of those friends, who helped me to develop an even greater Faith, Love, and Relationship with God, but that development of greater Faith, Love, and Relationship with God had begun with Prince’s music. It was through his music that I began to realize that I wanted that relationship on a much deeper level, and knew it could be obtained, that it was possible, because I saw the depth of the relationship that Prince had with God, his understanding of the value of his own relationship with God, and how he wanted to pass that on to others through his music. His music was always designed to “take U higher”. Later he tweeted, “U r more than Welcome.” I would like to think he had seen my sincere thank you and was responding to that. It was after I had acknowledged that tweet that he deleted it, and I deleted my “thank you”. It was enough to know that he may have seen it, acknowledged it, and had known just a little of how he had touched my life.

But the news stories that are circulating about Prince, that have been circulating since his death, need to stop. Prince was always a private person. He protected his image greatly. He would not have wanted these speculations and rumors and would have been disgusted with the stories that are coming out now. Prince mad.

The only time Prince appeared in the news was always so carefully orchestrated in a way that was protective of his image and his privacy. He does not belong in the news now. These friends that are sharing stories now of Prince would never have done that while he was alive, because they knew he did not want that. What happened at Paisley Park, stayed at Paisley Park. What happened when they spent time with Prince, stayed between the two of them. There are those that have shared their grief, spoken of how heart-broken they are of the loss they have suffered, and have maintained a silence on their relationship with Prince and their interactions with Prince. To those people, I give the highest of respect because they have shown themselves to have the highest respect for Prince and his wishes.

The truth is we do not know what caused Prince’s death and will not know, until the autopsy report comes out. The truth is in Prince’s music. The truth is that Prince was loved greatly, the world over. The truth is there will never be another Prince. The truth is these so-called “sources” leaking information to the media may have an agenda and want to smear his good name. The truth is a great man left behind a legacy of Love and Music that will continue to inspire us to reach higher, obtain our greatest potential, and spread that love to everyone we meet through our interactions with them.

Stop with the speculations and rumors. Wait for The Truth. Patience is a virtue that we can all benefit from now. And Love for one another during this time should be would what we are sharing and a way of honoring the man who so eloquently lived that.
