Prince's Music Is Already Being Licensed By His Estate

Jezabel is reporting that Prince's music is being sold out to Greys Anatomy just two weeks after he died. This shit would never happen were he still here.

I wish Prince fans would stop pretending he never licensed his music for TV shows and movies before. "Controversy" was used on "Scandal" (another Shonda Rhimes production) months ago when he was still alive. Also, remember the sync deal NPG Music Publishing did with the NFL for "Funk N' Roll"? If we see Prince music in beef ads, then by all means be outraged, but so far the music licensing appears to be in line with the way it has been done when Prince was alive.

Both shows stated their appreciation to the estate to allow these shows to pay tribute by playing his music
The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Remember there is only one destination and that place is U
All of it. Everything. Is U.

We need to stop saying stuff like "Prince would never do this while he was alive".

If he wanted stuff done a certain way after his death, he should have left a will.

There are going to be a lot of uncomfortable events in our near future, so get ready now. An example would be WB buying the entire Vault.

Hearing Prince's music on TV is a good thing. It generates income, raises awareness and keeps his name relevant. Grey's Anatomy used to be noted for its music curation. There used to be a episode-by-episode song guide on ABCs website. Also keep this in mind: American TV restrictions against language are basically in line with what Prince himself was practice in the last stages of his career.

Delirious was used in a a Cheech and Chong film and Prince´s camp intervened, so that the later editions of that movie had to use a different (but very similar sounding) song by some other artist.

I saw that here in Australia, I was not expecting it and all I could do was cry and stare at the screen - I could not even tell you what the actors were saying...........I was shocked as it was so unexpected

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

Totally agree! I actually think that's a positive sign! Keep his music alive and keep it coming for generations to come.

Queens music is now used to sell eceything from tampons to insurance. Freedie was sold out. Their legacy is a joe now.

Prince's music should not end up like that.

Why do people really care about Artist X, Y, or Z's music being used in commercials?

Popular music is a commercial endeavor right from the get go, for starters.

Pete Townshend is so right about all that (IMO). There's money to be made - take it, take it, take it.

Why on earth not? It doesn't alter the existence, form, or substance of the original music.

Queen's legacy is every bit as secure now as it was when Freddie Mercury was alive (if not more so).

Years ago, Match of the Day in the UK used Life O' The Party for their end credits/highlight reel.

So look into the mirror, do u recognise some1? Is it who u always hoped u would become, when u were young?

whatever the estate has scope to do now is great as the cash flow will help keep assets in the face of either death duties or any 1 sibling who wants to sell something off or take their share of X

His music needs to live on. To do that, people need to hear it.

It's not uncommon for music issues to alter video releases.

However, I saw this film on cable recently and it DID have the Prince song.
