Yep, the older pics help in not being a constant reminder that he was in so much pain in his last days. To me, it is all the more painful because I hadn't been listening to/watching him because he reminds me too much of someone, and just when I needed Prince the most, he was there for me, healing me. And yet, he was alone despite being my friend and confidante. The first song I listened to after a year break was Sometimes It Snows in April, and on the 17th day, I woke up to this profound loss. I now have a Prince-shaped hole in my heart and it will never fill, and those eyes help me to say to him that even if he didn't know me, I have loved him and always will, if he can listen to me wherever he is.
