As with all of you I am having a hard time coping with the loss of Prince, trying to put it all together.

There was a public showing of Purple Rain at the Target Field Station in Minneapolis last Saturday and, though it was a drive, I knew I had to go. The love shown by all of Minneapolis was breathtaking from storefront tributes to purple bridges. Being at First Avenue brought instant tears.

I made my way to the showing and there were so many people there trying to deal with this emotion and the love was everything Prince would have wanted. The movie started and it was hard to watch but you could feel the audience get into the groove of the movie, lauging, crying, cheering every time First Avenue was shown (just a block away). When Purple Rain was performed the crowd was singing in unison, waiving thier cell phone tribute, culminating in a standing ovation and cheering. It felt like we were the crowd in that movie and prince was performing his encore for us. It was unlike anything I have ever felt, it was so real and raw for everyone. It felt like he was there with us.

This helped my process in dealing with this so much because he wanted to live on through his music, and he said that several times. You don't fully appreciate it until it is gone and that is the truth.

You just brought tears to my eyes... Again 😢

It was truly amazing. All colors, races, ages being together as one large family.

Thanks! I wish I could have been there. Your last note about different races and ages coming together for the event is one thing that I have always admired about Prince. He seemed to be intent on bringing eveyone together, especially early in his career. "Uptown" is basically an anthem for diversity.
