The first boot for the '93 DNA Lounge aftershow was "This Is My Night". It's an audience recording -- not a soundboard. . That version of "Come" is one of -- if not my favorite live performance by anyone -- ever. . Look it up in Per Nilsen's "The Vault". First time ever performed in the U.S. (if I recall correctly). Prince was ill (he had to postpone shows that followed). You can hear it in his voice. Another thing that made it so special is the crowd's constant reactions to his playfulness with them. Throughout, it sounds like they are on a rollercoaster with him. The studio versions of "Come" that we've heard -- and all live versions that followed -- for example on the Act II shows -- pale in comparison. . Same goes for "Dark" (nearly exactly one year later) on the "Stars & Bars" boot. That guitar solo at the end (very similar to the one in the studio version of "Saviour") is otherworldly. Also in my top 5 of all-time. Makes the R&R HOF performance look like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star The studio version is incredibly disappointing in comparison. . Kind of like how we all felt about hearing "Fury" on 3121 after seeing it performed on SNL. . That's what made Prince so special to all of us. Even if we loved the album versions -- it was what he did with them live that made him special. Every once in a while, those songs were taken to a level that he never reached again with them. (Joy In Repetition on ONA Live is a perfect example.)

. Even KTS called it an audience recording. And it is. Not even close to soundboard. In the Goldmine days of letting users know what quality of audience recording, it was given VG+.

(To be clear, my previous post is from the previously mentioned "The Vault" by Per Nilsen/UPTOWN.)

It might be audience, but KTS called it a Soundboard. I'm looking at the CD that I've had since '94, and on the back it says "SOUNDBOARD AFTERSHOW". That said, it also says it's a DDD recording which is unlikely. [Edited 5/15/16 7:32am] Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

Does anybody else have it as this release? If so, how would you compare the sound quality? http://www.bootlegzone.co...ame=SAB300 "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I can't compare directly as I don't have any previous versions but since that one was released in 2005 and is apparently sourced from a 2004 version but with some corrections I think it's pretty safe to assume it's better than any previous ones, so it's probably the best quality circulating unless something newer has come out in the interim. . Yeah. I think KTS put "Soundboard" on all of their recordings -- whether they were or not. Even back in 1993 when a friend bought me that CD -- I knew that wasn't DDD. lol . But it's an audience recording. That show is at the top of my list for what I want from Prince's Vault. The soundboard recording from that show. I've been hoping for over two decades that a better recording would appear. With that said, if a soundboard copy became available and you couldn't hear the crowd -- the soundboard copy wouldn't be my preferred version. Other that European shows, San Francisco seemed to have the most knowledgeable fanbase. They know when to go nuts, and when to STFU. You don't hear people talking during quiet moments in a set. Better than NYC. Better than Mpls. Anyways, just my opinion.

'Come' is a fantastic track and one of favourite Prince's funky tracks. Lyrics are defiantly x-rated. I always saw it as a sequel to 'Head' in a way :-) I believe '18 and Over' was another version of the song found on the epic released 'Crystal Ball' 3 disc trilogy.

Ah okay, I thought it might be Prince rapping about him from the description, which sounded intriguing although I must admit I'm far too young (and British unless they ran it over here as well) to have watched the Cosby Show on its first airing, I know him only as Shirley's husband from Community. Hmmmm need this cd STAT! Hopefully, I can pick it up from either Amazon or iTunes. "So here I sit in my lonely room

. And I was so excited to get that on CD (decades ago) -- until I listened and it had nowhere near the energy of the DNA Show. Sometimes you just wondered what was going on in his life at that moment based on the passion of some of the performances...

I'm gonna call the Chicago show without getting too far into it. It sounds a little bit better than Cabaret Metro but it's only a partial bit of the show and I'm not a fan of the butchering of 2 performances to create one track like is done for Gold Nigga.
