Hey Guys ("Black CD" Pics uploaded Help Please) Hello All, I am new here. I had to wait 5 days to post which was a drag (lol). Anyway, I am glad I am able to now. I have been reading the forum here everyday for the past 2 weeks.
To be quiet honest, I was never a fan on Prince's. Its not that I liked or didn't like him. He was never in the "public eye" if you will. I mean that when you pick up a magazine (you would never see him there). Not that I read of magazines now I used too. But never saw him. And he wasn't a lot on T.V. (interviews, etc). So I just never listened to him or heard his music to be honest. The day that I heard that he died I went online at night and I googled him (for the first time ever). I watched his interviews and listened to his songs. Than it hit me what I had missed out on. I cried for hours. I feel like I missed out on such a talented person. I would have loved to seen at least one show. I have never felt so upset for someone who has died whom I didn't know. I am deeply sad he has passed away . The song "Sometimes It Snows in April" brings tears to my eyes. I can't listen to it
I went on e-bay and bought the Purple Rain Vinyl (the one with the purple Vinyl). Than somehow I stumbled on the "Black Album." I did a lot of research and read about a lot about fakes. I saw on ebay the "Black Album" from 1994. The USA promo 2-45793. On the front in like a gold stamp it says "For promotional use only. Sale or other transfer is prohibited. Must be returned on demand of the recording company." On the spine it says "2-45793" on one side and "2-45793 Warner Bros. Records Inc. 3300 Warner Blvrd Burbank CA 91505-4694 75 Rockefeller Plaza New York NY 10019-6908" on the other. When I recieved it, I opened it and it had just one black sleeve. No lyrics or anything. If I upload a picture of it would anyone be able to tell me if its real? (I think its real but I am no expert).
On Friday I am going to the movies to watch "Purple Rain." I hope I don't
Sorry for such a long first post. [Edited 5/4/16 21:31pm]

I just looked at that website Fragile posted and the ones they posted as "real" don't look anything like the one I bought when it was released. I bought mine from a record store, I remember the release date ended up being later than it was supposed to be - I know there was some fuss about it and I think it was basically recalled, censored and then released but I could be wrong - it was a long time ago. Anyway mine looks exactly like the one you posted (the CD) I don't still have the case - moved cross country and had to leave somethings behind.

Aww sorry to hear that.
Thank you for letting me know that mine is real. I did a lot of research (lol) but still felt like for the price I paid for it was "too good" lol

Welcome. Although you may have missed him live, he still lives on in many, many audio and video recordings, so don't be too hard on yourself. Rather, give yourself a hug for seeing and recognizing his beautiful soul. You'll have just as wonderful of journey discovering his greatness even with him gone.
Enjoy Purple Rain, but beware it is heavy. You will cry. My wife and I actually enjoy Under The Cherry Moon more as it's kind of an romantic tragic comedy, and always brings a smile to our faces.
Also, you should be able to find his used CDs much cheaper than ebay at used Wrecka Stows. $80 seems hella steep.
Enjoy the ride. | |

Real promo from 1994 but not the real real one from 1987 (not sure if there are CDS of that one)

It's real, because that's exactly how my CD of the black album looks.

That's a real '94 WB copy. It's true that it only came with a one panel black insert. It's not the super rare '87 version, but it's still a great thing to have. Cheers, new fan. Welcome. Keep your headphones on.

Thank you everyone. | |

That is a real 94 promo. $80 is a little steep unless you bought it immediately after his passing. People are gouging fans right now, especially less seasoned buyers and collectors.

I bought it a few days ago.
Thank you guys. You are all very nice
