All gossip and speculation. Some of it will be true, but we'll have to await the authorities. Regarding both COD and the legacy.

COD I think we all will be able to deal with...it will hurt but we'll get through it. The gossip is another thing though.

30yrs of P insults, the ish used 2 jst run off my back, I'd expect it & laugh at it. That stopped on the 21st. The speculation & trying 2 paint him as a coke head/drug addict bothers me. This waiting for the tox report etc is hard. I'm sick of them bringing up Tyka's past every chance they get. Some folks (who i can only surmise must have sociopathic tendencies) on here have bothered me for the first time too. "We just let people talk & say whatever they want 2 say. 9 times out of 10, trust me, what's out there now, I wouldn't give nary one of these folks the time of day. That's why I don't say anything back, because there's so much that's wrong" - P, Dec '15

agree 100%....I think some things as fans we just shouldnt bring up. Its about respecting that artist that we are all still on this site for

Truth is, it's not really that bad. When a celebrety dies and the cause of death isn't clear, of course people will start speculating. And of course that will be about drugs, because in the public eye, rock music and drugs go hand in hand. But I haven't seen a lot of outrageous stories. Nobody said he was beating up women or having his blood replaced in a Transsylvanian clinic or sleeping in an oxygen tank. By rock & roll standards, there aren't really that many gossip stories surrounding Prince. All in all, he's done a pretty good job of keeping his private life private.

I'm choosing to not read any of it. I honestly don't care what caused it - I love him no matter what. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

I did think the other day that 2 die privately, from taking prescribed pain killers for chronic pain/poss other health issues, after a life of hard work bringing the world so much beautiful art, is nothing 2 be ashamed of & it could be so much worse. All this stuff has been around for decades, the drug rumors, even the HIV rumors are old. They're coming back up now cause of his death.

I've been on the org for a long time now, I stay in defense mode or ignore mode, whatever works best.

This is true so I guess the stories could be worse...the oxygen tank was low though I mean weve lost two musical icons and thats the way I choose to remember Prince as an icon. Im sure as the days go by some of the stories will get worse and I'll be fine, but if somebody starts posting pics of this mess Im going off!

I know...Im thinking back and I can honestly say that Ive never heard that until April 21st

he was always skinny, but I guess back then folks just took that and ran with it

I'm saddened by the salacious and disrespectful "news," but I'm happy to hear about his philanthropy efforts and all the ways he helped his immediate community and various organizations throughout the country.

Exactly...Im hoping and praying that people would not be that cruel.

yes that is wonderful to hear...doing the right thing and not needed any recognition for it

It's frustrating but I stay away from all the garbage rumours. Prince always took care of himself, that's the sense I always got.

I totally agree with you ^^. And I think he realized that in 2014 after he dropped his lawsuit against some fans. He went from telling "The View" in 2013 that he hopes someone will release all his vaulted music to telling Alan Leeds (his manager) in 2015 to burn it all when he dies. Why the change? What happened?

What happened? Do u have a link or something for that quote he said 2 Alan? First I'm hearing of it. Btw Alan wasn't his manager & left P's camp in the 90's. I am trying to avoid the news and gossip sites because it is blantantly clear that a lot of stuff being written about prince is not true. For instance, the drug stories. I dont believe for 2 seconds that prince was a drug addict. You cant write a song called "pop life" with the lyrics of : What you putting in your nose, is that where your money goes....the river of addiction flows! and be a drug addict. Plus Prince was a victim of addiction because he watched his sister go through it and its no secret that when one member of your family is dealing with addiction, the whole family suffers. If you have been a victim of addiction, you usually fight like hell to not become an addict yourself if you can help it. I believe that if Prince was taking any drugs, they were legal and prescribed by a doctor. Your brain cannot function properly and do the creative things that prince did when it came to music and music videos and even films if you are a drug addict. We are talking about a man who has a vault filled with 35 years of unreleased material and that wouldnt have been created if Prince was doped up all the time. I dont like the AIDS stories because that does not register with me. Yes I know that Prince was a sexual showman but he also had the ability to have long term relationships and marriages and when you do that, you dont go fuck everything in the universe and put yourself in a position to catch HIV or AIDS. Basically if you got steak at home, dont go out and get coney dogs. I strongly believe that there are some former associates of Prince who are feeding the press and tabloids a lot of lies just to tarnish Prince's memory and that is not cool. I know the aforementioned sounds insane and far fetched but when you are a businessman like prince was, you will make enemies. A lot of enemies. Those enemies will see to it that the press eats you alive and thats what the media is doing right now. You are seeing very few positive prince stories being relayed in the media and that is just wrong. The only people that I believe right now in this situation who have the spotlight on them and who really loved Prince and want to protect his legacy are W&L,Sheila,Alfred, and quite possibly Mayte. I am not saying that there are not other people in prince's camp who are not mourning his passing but someone is feeding these ridiculous stories to the press and there are definitely some folks popping up who just want their 15 minutes of fame. I realize that Prince was not perfect but he was still a man and his name should not be trashed. His legacy should not trashed. The media should have more fucking respect for Prince's family and fans but we know that requires them to have souls and they cant access those. For instance, I saw Taja Sevelle on my local fox affiliate. Taja was bawling her eyes out about Prince and she was really torn up about his passing but nobody offer her a kleenex. Nobody offered a hug. Nobody tried to console this poor woman whose friend just died. It was just business as usual and that fucking pissed me off. I have loved Prince since i was 10 years old. I am 22 now. I never got to see the man in concert but i always loved the music and the artistry and the stories of how certain songs came about. Hell,I ran 2 pretty successful prince related youtube pages for a time. I dont think there is a prince album that i have not owned. I respect Prince in spite of his faults because he did not take shit from anyone and he did his own thing and he was a rebel and vastly underrated. Prince exorbited sexuality and rebellion in a world where everything is supposed to be boring and tame and conservative and i love that shit about him. Nobody on earth is perfect but Prince does NOT deserve to have his name ran through the proverbial mud. If someone hurt Prince, i want to see that person brought to justice. If a will does pop up, i hope everyone listed in it gets what he or she deserves. I hope that everything in the vault gets released because hearing that stuff might start the healing process for us prince fans. I am just not going to follow this tragedy in the media because the things they are saying about prince are wrong and I know they are! Its bad enough that bullshit pops up on my facebook newsfeed but i am not going to seek it out. I am grieving like the rest of you are and hearing bad things would only make it worse.

I haven't watched nor read it. I prefer to remember Prince the way he's always been to me. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

spastic78 said: I totally agree with you ^^. That withdrawn interview with Ebony magazine from December 2015 was so angry, defensive, and erratic. Two parts of that crazy interview break my heart now: Religion, when used properly, actually is like a health regimen. And they’re finding now that people who have faith live longer. I mean, it says so in the book. That’s what it’s supposed to be. You ain’t supposed to die. If there’s God, then that’s what God would be. And... You know, Doug E. Fresh told me—we used to hang out when he was touring with us—he said, “Man, Prince, Rakim is so bad, Prince, he don’t have no friends. Just no friends.” I said, “Why?” “Nobody wanna be around him, they just feel small.” And that’s why I always know I’m doing alright: nobody comes around. Be quiet around here. I love it just like this. Interestingly, if you go back to that interview, he says that he has no plans to write a book. Something clearly happened between then and relatively recently, to make him take stock.
