Prince became a legend because of his 1980 to 1987 era..
The minneapolis sound that he created & he set the trends..
After 1988.. Prince chased the trends..
He had some solid music but had a ton of throw away albums..
Prince's last GREAT album was sign o'the times

The glimmers of silver linings in the darkest of clouds...what a FREAKING GREAT album to rediscover. Slow Love is a little hard to get through...that is my only critcism of the album...the rest shows one of the premiere artists of our generation at his absolute peak. I know some longtime fans might have been rebuying some of the CDS but I hope the majority of these people are newbies who are as blown away as we were back in 87.

All good things they say never last...

Definitely one of his greatest. I would love the movie version of Hot Thing to jam on as a single. That organ! I used to watch that on VHS like all weekend and dance and pretend I was Cat.
Surprise, surprise.
Another treat. Another trick.

An album that, even though I've been playing it for years, just continues to grow on me. One of his best without question. I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man, Adore, Starfish & Coffee, Dorothy Parker...ugh, so fucking good.

What "trends" was he chasing on Symbol, The Gold Experience, Rainbow Children, and even Musicology? I get your point, but even though it was impossible for anyone to keep up with his output of creativity from the 80's, he was not exactly a chaser. The hip hop vibes in the early 90's could be considered chasing, but that's about it. And that was only a small fraction of his music.
